Perfect CCW?
I'm sure you are right, but we all know that if anything requiring an armed response occurs, we're all stuck with what we have on us. The old maxim is "have a gun, everything else is negotiable." Another favorite of mine is the .32 in your pocket is 10 times more powerful than the .44 mag you don't have because you left back in the truck.
According to NRA statistics I read in The American Rifleman somewhere, they said most crimes are ended at the presentation of a firearm, rather than the firing of the firearm.
I've searched for the Holy Graile of CCWs for years, and I kept coming back to 3 guns: A 1911 of some sort, a .38 snubbie, or a short barreled .44.
I never felt comfortable with a 9mm. Ever since my first single stack 9 at the police academy, I shot steel plates with it and it wouldn't even knock them down!
Later, in the 'decision making house' where they had a kill house set up with targets of varying descriptions. Everyone was told a little different scenario before they entered. The mission was rescue Baby Dumpling. He has a red & white striped shirt. The terrorists all are wearing wild colored clothes, and one in a silver shirt is wearing body armor.
If one was wearing body armor, maybe the others were too, so I found the 9 handy for making snake-bite looking forehead wounds. I got all with 2 rounds to the forehead, which given my scenario was justified. With a G-36 I would have been out of ammo quickly.
