Don't 'collect' them but just added another.

Here's a couple more - a pair of 1929 Winchester Model 52 Pre-A's, custom stocked by John Dubiel (formerly of Hoffman Arms) in roughly 1932-1935. The blonde is mine and has a Dubiel Arms barrel; the slightly older brunette has an early Eric Johnson barrel. The latter was owned by R.C. Pope, a DFW-based top shooter of the 1930's & 40's. He won a couple of Texas State Rifle Assn titles with it (hence the Texas medallion), and took it to England in 1939 to help the US finally win the Pershing Trophy.

Beautiful guns!

So, the blonde is a single shot?

Yes, they are beautiful guns, and were at the absolute peak of accuracy for their time. I've not shot Pope's rifle, but given its history, I expect that it's very accurate. I can say that my blonde is very competitive with my Dunlap 52C. My very first USBR 50 score with it was a 230-3X, and I've broken 240 since, and I'm not that great of a shooter.

Both rifles are single shot, which is typical at this level. Pope's was originally configured to use a magazine, but a wooden insert/plug was installed (pretty early on, I think) to cover the breech guide opening. Pope's also has inletting for a safety, which has been removed. For my gun, Dubiel simply omitted the safety and configured it as a single shot from the start.

Check the link in my previous post for lots more (very cool!) details.
