Anyone recently received their CWP in Florida?

the expedited process is definitely faster, but i didn't know about it when i sent in my packet the old school way. took just over 2 months though, so it was still quicker than i thought it would be.

Along with Florida, I have to give huge props to Arizona as well. It took NINE whole days from the time I dropped my renewal in the mail to actually having my new permit in hand. Over a three day weekend...from Connecticut to AZ and back. Now, that's service!

Sounds like they're catching up. I sent mine in Feb.25(3 days after I took the class:D) My check cleared in April, got my permit in July, issued 90 days exactly after the check cleared:rolleyes:

Hey, give them a call! They have an 800 number, and are ready and willing to answer all questions. Really nice people.

Yeah, IF you can get through. I tried calling several times about my first fingerprint card and it was always either busy or just rang and rang. Had better luck with email. Very slow, but at least they responded.

Ok, wait for THIS baby.....
Check dated and mailed 9/2. Regular way with electronic fingerprints.
Got my CC YESTAERDAY, 9/28! That's right! 2 days shy of 4 weeks, with a Labour
Day holiday thrown in there!
Sadly, my daughter's WAS in the same envelope. She didn't get hers yesterday. Hopefully, today?!

I went in person to the Tampa office on Sept 22, and received my card in the mail on Sept 28. Thanks to whoever tipped me off to going to the Department of Agriculture office. There are six in Fl. They did the prints, took the picture, and I did the form on their computer. Gave them my class completion form, and a check for $117 and I was out the door in 28 minutes. (and they were nice to deal with.) You do need an appointment and they don't take cash.
Good luck.

FL CWP Renewal mailed 9/16/09. New CWP received 9/29/09. Less than two weeks turn around - couldn't believe it!

If you are near Florida and timing is a concern, come here and get your prints electronically "livescanned". It's the FBI ink print cards that add the greatest amount of processing time.

Big Mike, would it help at all to have prints live scanned after I've already sent in packet with paper prints?

Hey everyone, just found this forum and registered after lurking for a few hours. I Sent mine in on 30 June (priority). Followed up via phone and was told it was entered into the system on 1 August. Received my license on 15 September. So, around ten weeks I guess. I've heard horror stories of 6 month waits - but I guess I was lucky! I sent my DD214 and did my prints electronically...maybe that helped?

treeman,

Not sure. You should call the Dept. of Agriculture and ask. Knowing bureaucracies (I work in one) if two prints for the same ORI number come in at different times for one application, you could inadvertently prolong the process. Good luck.

Livescan prints will beat FBI print cards by weeks.

Just wanted to update...I decided to just let it ride the old school way (not re-do it with the new way.) I spoke to one of the guys at the local office and he STRONGLY suggested I not submit 2 applications he felt it would cause more harm than good. Basically I was given the same advice as Big Mike is saying...

Soo, my current status is.
1) I mailed it in by Priority Mail on September 8th

2) check was cashed on September 18th

3) waited 1 hr 30 minutes on phone October 19th to check on status and I was told 30-45 more days

Sooo....I am just waiting :) Mine was PAPER prints by the way.

Cigarguy, was yours a NEW application or a renewal? Did you daughter get hers yet?

It was new. Mine took, from date of mailing, 4 weeks. Daughters came one week later.

This is a new application...Florida just started up a new "expedited system" in which instead of mailing a packet off to Tallahassee....you visit a regional office where you fill the application on a computer (instead of a bubble in sheet), enter your fingerprints electronically, pay the same $117 and get the license MUCH faster. See here: http://floridashootersnetwork.com/ph...p?f=36&t=61512
I did exactly that. I highly recommend it. There are six regional offices, and you need an appointment. They don't take cash, and you need your D/L for identification and your certificate (or copy) of your class completion. I went in the Tampa office, the girls couldn't have been nicer. I sat at a computer terminal and filled out the form, they notarized it. They took my prints electronically, they did my photo electronically, and I was out the door in 28 minutes.
I went on a Tuesday, and my permit was in my mailbox the following Monday.
Easy.
