I appendix carry my Ruger LCR357 IWB with a Kydex holster from Just Holster It at the 1 O'clock position without any discomfort standing, kneeling or sitting. Its overall length is 6.50"...Now I find my 3" LCRx357 with a leather Azula holster to be uncomfortable in that same position as it has an overall length of 7.50".

If your BUG is a smaller gun, that would explain that difference. Otherwise, you're just the exception to the rule. All else being equal (IWB, concealed by the same shirt, etc) appendix is far faster for most people.
I've carried my main in the same position, and done some training with it, for when I step up to a full size main. And I'm still faster at 3 than appendix. I'll come from under a tucked dress shirt at 3 faster than a untucked tee in the appendix. The only way it's faster is when I'm drawing wrong handed which is half the reason I carry there.

Maybe this is the one thing I'm actually special for!

Could be. I've never seen a well trained shooter who was faster from 3 o'clock than from appendix. What are your average times from those positions?

a holstered gun will not pull its own trigger no matter where on your body it is carried.

the best way to holster a gun carried appendix carry is to remove the holster from your person, holster the gun, then put the holster back in place.
