AR question

You're just not trying hard enough.

Having read plenty of informed posts from Varminterror and having spoken with the OP, in neither case is this the answer. Sometimes we loose sight of the versatility of the AR platform when we only consider our own uses or what we feel its uses should be limited to. I for one should have known better after just completing a second kids build with my son, that not everyone will engage a rifle in the same manner.

I also revisited pictures of my own scoped AR (since removed) and found that same overhang present when shooting with correct LOP for me at 6’2”. The rifle I pictured above is set for my wife at 5’9” and I have children who range down to 4’ or thereabouts.

Well sure, the platform is versatile and tastes differ. One could easily drill a hole in a 2X4 and mount it on there for a sight too. That doesn't make it the right thing to do.
I have read plenty from varmiterror too since his (her?) joining the site in 2016. I have been here in some way since 2005. Never have I been called a liar by somebody like he did. SO we know there are at least some things he is wrong about, math, and AR scope mounting notwithstanding.

Still a little butthurt by my asking you NOT to lie, eh?

Nobody is asking you to get rid of your old rifle. But please don’t lie to new rifle buyers and try to convince them a 270win is a better choice for their task.

Civilian AR buyers aren’t GI’s with issue rifles. We’re not stuck in a universal supply chain where individualization is a logistical nightmare, and not all forced to shoot the same LOP or sight position as .mil soldiers were with A2’s.

If you are at all open to the premise you outline in your first sentence then you might view that second sentence as a non-sensical stretch and that third sentence as a refutation of any deviation from the gospel.

Whatever dispute you took as personal with another member (IMO) should not be carried over to other threads such that the question at hand becomes mired therein. I am guilty of said same and do on occasion break out the witch hazel for personal relief while endeavoring to learn what I can despite differences.

I hope the OP is fine with my sharing this bit of our conversation; he is an octogenarian and assures me that time will at some point force me to rethink my correct way of doing things (his wording was far more congenial). In the mean time I amended my previous post’s harsh tone to correct a larger error, one of assumption. He has already taught me the value of rethinking those things not written in stone, a reminder I am grateful for.

Returning to that question at hand, consider the needs of the individual seeking advice if we haven’t run him off yet.
