Gents:

Okay, I'm building my "Christmas AR". I'm presently taking suggestions for an upgraded trigger group under $125. I don't care to go really high end, as I want to still keep the firearm as a "duty ready" long arm, but I want something improved over typical stock triggers for precision purposes. I'm presently looking at the RRA match stage 2, but have seen reviews that tell me that it needs to be fined tuned and that the design has a tendency to go single stage after some time. Also looking at the AGL ACT. So I seek the opinions of the people here, that's what matters to em. Thanks!

I have had a R/R 2-stage on one of my AR's for several years now that is still going strong. Just sayin.

go big.. double your budget and get a geissele... you wont regret it.. you will with a half price trigger

Geissele. For sure. I would check out their Designated Marksman trigger.

If you can go lighter, the hi-speed nat'l match is an INCREDIBLE target trigger. Very fast lock time.

I just don't want anything that's too "light". I also want to be able to bang the rifle around without worrying that I have a sensitive trigger group.

In that price range the RRA NM trigger is a really good option. The ALG is also a good choice but the RRA is more refined and lighter but with a nice distinct 2nd stage.

I've never heard of it needing to be tuned, but I've had two of them wear out, so I do agree that their lifespan isn't all that great. It'll be 5-7 thousand rounds when you start noticing a change.

In a marketplace where products come and go every year, spending the money on a Geiselle because I probably will never need to replace it is an irrelevent consideration. I think the only parts I've kept for more than five years are the springs and detents from a lower parts kit!

I've also tried briefly a Hyperfire and some other new trigger and both were very nice. There are plenty of options out there.

I am totally sold on the Hyperfires. I have owned or played with Geiselles, Timneys, Black Rain, POF and others, and they're fine, but IMO, the Hyperfire beats them all.

MachIV, which Hyperfire triggers? I'm trying to stay under $125, but see that many of their products are priced well above that. Thanks.

They are, but worth it.

I like the 24-3G. 2, 3 & 4 lb settings, short reset, clean break, and they increase striking force as well.

I have a Black Rain I got within your budget, but that was a serious sale, and I ended up having to use anti-rotation pins because I couldn't get the grub screws tight enough to keep the standard pins from walking without affecting the trigger. The Hyperfires, like the Geiselles, positively retain standard pins. It's a consideration, because your $125 trigger isn't a $125 trigger anymore if you're forced to use a $30 pin set to keep it in.

I bought an upgraded trigger package from PSA for $35. It is the same design as the mil-spec AR trigger but is polished. I found that it greatly improved the trigger pull, making it much smoother. Not exactly a Geiselle (sp?) trigger but well worth the $35 I spent on it. I have installed it on one AR 15 and one AR 10.

I went with the ALG trigger. It's just a well made version of the stock trigger. Weight of pull is the same as stock, but the break is cleaner than the triggers that come in standard parts kits.

I'm not an AR guy, so my opinion is probably flawed. But, my son just finished a really nice build, to which he dropped a Timney in it. We weighed it, and it's consistently pulling @ 34 oz., which feels real nice IMO.

I have a RR trigger in one rifle, polished by Bill Springfield. It is super crisp, and I am thrilled with it.

I have a CMC trigger in another rifle. I like it a ton. I like it as well or better better than the Geiselle that is in my buddy's rifle. http://www.cmctriggers.com They are made in Fort Worth.

I have the ALG ACT in one lower and the Geissele G2S in the other. The G2S is more than twice the trigger, and worth every penny over the ACT. Find one on sale and be happy.

Okay gents, I went with the PSA polished stock trigger. I figure I can always add a higher end trigger down the road, if I'm so inclined. Thanks for all of the advice!!!:)

If that is the Nickel-plated one, you won't be disappointed (unless you are looking for an adjustable match trigger.) I tried them side by side with the ALG ACT triggers and I can't tell the difference. Stock AR trigger weight with no grit, and very little creep. Excellent value, especially if you caught it on sale.

I have the CMC trigger and I like it. The best part was it's cheaper than most and it's a true "drop in" part.
