Arm Thy Neighbor

I can't help but feel people are not getting the point.

This is not about giving away your only rifle to your neighbor whos dog poops on your lawn everyday (hate that guy). This is about having extra tools to give away to ensure the survival of your fellow man and increase your own chances of survival.

When somebody wants to accomplish something (say rob you of your supplies, like we saw during Hurrican Katrina) they will get others to help them if they are smart. If you are smart you would do the same, and you would arm them too. If you don't trust your neigbors or hell, anybody, thats fine, but there is saftey in numbers.

Not everyone has a survival retreat, a bug out bag and a bug out vehicle. For some people surviving is making due with what they have where they are. I would say a cheap rfle and ammo would be a great investment. If I stay here in Sprallville, USA during a suspension of services, food may get tight with all the mouths to feed and nothing to feed them. I will have to protect my food supplies. I may have to harvest small game. I may need to cross hundreds of miles of heavily settled land to escape hunger-land. I may need to harvest large game once I escape. I may need to trade valuables to ensure I can accomplish any of this tasks. Extra fireams and people will help you do this. Maybe the guy whos dog poops on your law does not seem like such a bad guy anymore...

If you already live in a rural neighborhoood with armed neighbors that you do not trust then you obviously would have no reason to give away your weapons.

I think the good ol' $100-$150 Semi-auto .22 fits this purpose perfectly. You could pick up 2-3 of them AND 5000 rounds of ammo for less than most decent rifles :)

There's also the Mosin-nagants... You can grab a crate of them pretty cheap ($70-$120 per unit, usually in a crate of 20), and the surplus ammo is still widely available and quite inexpensive. Arm the entire block for less than a used car :D

Non-crated 91/30's at $90 each:

If you keep your eyes on both sites, they regularly have crates of 20 pop up.

I've got enough for me. My friends got what they need. I cant afford to be arming people. We've got a shtf plan. What more do you need?

Here's my plan, ...

The neighbor farthest from me (i live in a neighborhood with only one way in and out) will be LOANED my m91/30 and my stash of ammo. I figured if anything happens, I'll hear it and have time to make a stand. They will also be LOANED a .22 pistol and 100 rounds of ammo in case it gets up close and personal. That should hold someone off until help arrives within a matter of minutes.

The other neighbors that are not armed (only a few of them aren't armed) will receive the Ruger Mrk III 22/45, another one will get the .22rifle, another the 20 gauge, and finally the hi point.

I have enough ammo for them all with plenty to spare.

My wife and I will have the AR15, 44magnum revolver, and the marlin 336c .30 .30.

This of course is my plan and should work well in my situation. The neighbors and I have already talked and agreed on the appropriate actions if it is needed.
