As I sit here logged into THR, I feel…

...like I have a place to hang out again.

I suspect it is hard for many of us to find the sort of place I used to take for granted until it went away.

like i have suddenly been transported form the best gun forum on earth to seventh grade english class for a weird writing lesson....

(sorry, someone had to say it)

I can easily imagine I'm in a grand private club filled with overstuffed leather, thick persian rugs and the scent of fine cigars. On the walls are trophy heads of big african game and portraits of Illustrious past members that need no nameplates........comfortably discussing weighty and trivial matters over coffee and cognac......to the right is the club library....surrounded by bookcases and card indexes, and over there is the 'specimen' display - ranks of classic and notable firearms in glass cases.....Clint

Is this what you had in mind?......

I feel that I am locked in the ward of a mental hospital set aside for the politically opinionated gun nuts who have flushed their medications and being armed wont on principle be forced to take them....at least that's how it feels in some threads :neener:

...afraid to post half the time.

Being at THR at my age often leaves me with a feeling that I would be so much better off if I'd just shut my mouth and open my ears. I've learned droves so far, and have never felt once like the gun nut commando type. Hey, misery loves company:neener:

ALSO

Like I'm gonna go full on postal :cuss: if we don't get the conclusion (episode III, if you will) of the Pink Gorilla Suit story!

Rembrandt,

I started my post a little tongue-in-cheek, finding the original thread question amusing. By the time I finished it, I was kind-of-serious, particularly about the members generally knowing what they are talking about.

In fact, the question wasn't *too* lame - as valid as many others - and I was curious enough to read it; it went to the issue of why was *I* here.

So... yes, your picture is pretty close to the place I was painting. (Is this a picture of your study? Den? One could hope)

My motives for posting was typically 'gently twisted' - why my wife puts up with me I'll never understand.

...the last refuge for logic, reason, and discussion of our God-given rights left in the world.

Or, to paraphrase one of my favorite TV series...

"The High Road was our last, best hope for peace. A self-contained world millions of gigabytes large, located in neutral Internet territory. A place of commerce and diplomacy for a quarter of a million humans and aliens i.e. Texans. A shining beacon in cyber- space, all alone in the night.

It's a picture of what I wish my future study looked like....I've always been intrigued by the well-to-do English hunters, country gentleman wearing tweeds and fine leather hunting boots. Purdy, Westly-Richards, fine cognac and driving Bentley's....I say ol chap, do you have any Grey Poupon?
