Feeling Like I Need More

Ahhh, Dash. You're a throwback to the turn of the century before last if you use that outdated old Marlin. :D

Poor old lever-action .30-30 carbines just don't get no respect in the age of hi-cap tactical/plastical zombie shootin' weaponry. Personally, I think they're underrated and misunderstood...even though they're capable of doing pretty much anything that a lone rifleman can ask a rifle to do within 250 yards against two-legged predators.

As a practical general purpose rifle, they're really pretty hard to beat, and...in the hands of a man who can shoot and knows his thutty-thutty...deadly effective. Given a choice, I'd rather face the average gunshop commando armed with an AK than Bubba with his grandpappy's old Model 94.

Though a shotgun or AR or many different pistols would be preferable, I would feel pretty well armed with a 10/22. They are accurate, reliable, and you can shoot them pretty fast. The stopping power isn't ideal but it would send most people scurrying.

If I was you I would tape your mags together, and use CCI stingers.

One is staggered plated hollow point then soft lead round nose. The other is loaded with two soft lead hollow points followed by a soft lead round nose, all the way down.

Why?

1911 tuner, I live where you can still leave a rifle in the window, I don't because it's between the seats. It goes to work, and everywhere else we go. My wife can use it pretty well and I shoot with it several times a week. I go through enough ammo with it that I got into reloading specifically for it. Have buckets and buckets of brass for it. Think I might be a little obsessed with it, and I think my other guns feel neglected

Feelling like I need more

More people are killed by .22's each year than any other caliber. They don't have immediate stopping power like larger calibers, but no one wants to be shot by any caliber. You have large capacity magazines, which is a plus. I have 4 shotguns. I just bought an 870 tactical, has ghost ring sight, holds 8 rounds, and is an awesome gun. It costs around $ 500. There are 870's much cheaper, however. All of my other shotguns are semi-auto. All are 12 guage. I have an 1100 which has a barrel with rifle sights, holds 9 rounds, and shoots like a dream. I think you should get a shotgun. A 12 guage 870 would be a good one. Having dealt with criminals for 30 years, nothing makes them mess their pants quicker than the sound of a pump shotgun chambering a round. I had two Mossberg shotguns with ghost ring sights. Having shot Remingtons all my life, I could not get used to the safety on the top, so I sold them. They were good shotguns, and would be fine for someone who didn't care where the safety was. Best of luck
