Bought a very used 44 cal Walker dragoon type pistol, Italian manufacture, and need assembly insturctions on putting lockwork back together. Help..........
i have to clean my walker repro, perhaps tonight... i will try to take step by step pics for you if i remember i make no promises on image quality as my only camera is my cell phone, but i will try my best to take decent shots. i have done a fair amount of learn by doing with colt repros but i have also utilized the vast wealth of info on the internet, a lot of which is found here for the subject of black powder stuff, and have had to find videos and images in the past to overcome problems in dissassembly/reassembly.
If you have it all apart you will need to pad a vise grip to hold the mainspring down while reassembling. That is all I can remember. I took ONE of my Walkers apart and never again. I just remember having to get the vise grips to get it back together as it has a weird mainspring unlike every other Colt I have ever played with and stripped down. It was a bugger.
well i've got mine stripped down and cleaned for the most part but the damn screw holding the trigger/bolt spring doesnt feel like coming out. i don't have a screwdriver worthy of muscling it out without damaging the screwhead. i have some oil on it, hopefully i can get it out of there in the mean time, heress a link to a schematic of the good ol' 1847! http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Products.aspx?catid=6638
