I saw a couple of Auto Ordnance M-1 carbines at the Sertoma gunshow this weekend, the looked pretty nice & appeared to be accurate reproduction.

I want to know if anyone owns one, are you happy W/ it?
Does AO have a good reputation & is 600.00$ a fair price?

The articles, and comments I've seen seem to give favorable reviews on the AO. The price is on par with the GI version. If I were looking for a new manufactured M1 Carbine, I go for the AO.

QUOTE:"Stupid question - interchangable parts?"

According to a review I read from "The American Rifleman" yes

I own one and am extremely happy with it. I always wanted one after shooting a friends carbine, and when I read about Auto Ordnance coming out with them, I decided that new with a warranty was better than old without. SUre, it doesn't have the history of a USGI piece, but you can't tell from a distance. And lately, the wood that has been on them has been very attractive. I got mine for $615, and would not trade it for anything.

Perfect SHTF weapon. Light, powerful, and high capacity.

The "real deal"...

Teo--Given that "the real deal" M1 Carbines are currently available from CMP for less than that money, I can't see spending $600 on a "fake GI." If there were a price differential, in favor of the new one, then mebbe.

Matter of fact, I did pop for a CMP Inland, and it functions perfectly. Can't see that a new one would shoot any better. And my Carbine has a history. So what if it's better than 60 years old; we made good steel back then.

So, as always, you pays yer money and you takes yer choice. If you get a carbine, new or old, I hope it works great for you.
