I'd get the Ruger, but I too would get a .44 mag instead of .454 Casull, although the .454 has some nice features, such as the ability to shoot shotshells, that the .44 mag doesn't have. If you don't load/are not independently wealthy, you might be better served with a longer barreled .357 as your first revolver, for its ability to shoot cheap .38 special reloads that can be had for around $9 per 50 round box if you know where to look. On the other hand, the 125 gr fmj .357 round should offer you adequate protection against any critters, two or four-legged, you encounter in Ohio. If you're more concerned about two-legged, load 125 gr jacketed hollow points, if bear, 135 gr fmj. Get at least a 4" barrel, and think about a 6" one if you're not worried about ccing the piece. 6" and longer barrels are what make revolvers so much fun, better than semis in my estimation, although a nice .45 long slide 1911 would be sweet as well.
