Check out the powder drop by Mark 7.

It is basically an Hornady/RCBS powder measure that has been optimized for progressive loading. Had one on a friend's Dillon 750 when it was on my bench and it was pretty impressive (I thought parts of it were a bit OCD) but changing charges was a bit of a pain...the price you pay for consistency

I have 3 of the digital powder measures. One each for small pistol and large pistol, and one for small rifle. TBH, they aren't any more consistent in the actual drop than the dillon powder measures I've been using for 30 years. One of the reasons to use them is that you can enable/disable on the fly from the control box, and they are much quicker to dial in. They also aren't as picky about powder types. The main value though is.....you can set dwell time and switch from 2 stage to 3 stage on the fly. Being digital, it also takes the adjustment of the case activation completely out of the picture. As long as there is a case in it, the solenoid will activate the throw the exact same way. It is also impervious to powder drag from fine powders...dillon bars will crud up with fine powders, like H110 or AA2, and often need to be broken down and cleaned every thousand rounds or so, more so with the small powder bar.

My friend served his country and lost a lot of his physical ability in that service. His family was well blessed prior to that, but I don't begrudge anything he wants to do with his money, I could think of much worse things.

As can I.....good for you! You never regret doing good.

And 9mmepiphany, I was talking about the cheaper one. Heck I didn't even know about the esoteric one. I thought the RCBS Uniflow 3 was high at $120. :)

The Mechanical Mark 7 power measure has some real improvements over both the Hornady and the RCBS for use with a progressive press.

1. The body is CNC machined for a tighter fit
2. The measure's movement is controlled by two rods which keep the body from "twisting" as it is raised by the case entering
3. The load adjustment insert is uses two nuts to lock in the setting
4, The rotor is designed to "drop" at the end of it's travel to settle the next powder charge...it's pretty violent

When we first got it we loaded just over 1k rounds and checked the powder drop several times during the session. It was right on, to the 100th (10 throw average), every time...using e3 powder

You guys have $$$$

Common saying amongst racers.

Want to know how to make a small fortune in auto racing? Start with a large one.

Shooting and reloading is one of the cheapest activity’s I have fun doing. Eat at fancy restaurant, go on vacation, “invest” in things that go down in value like cars, boats, motorcycles and RV’s and you bleed money. Most all of my guns and reloading equipment are worth more now than when I first bought them.

It wasn’t long ago when enough components for a weekend of fun cost less, per person, than going out to the movies. I just hope things settle down over the next 6 years, that’s about as long as I can hold out on the nutty prices we’ve had lately. Unless I slow down my consumption of the components I have.

I love my reloading room, I been buying stuff on sale that I might need later. And, I was just joking about $$$$. Best part of reloading is you don’t need tons of $$$$ if your resortfull or just want to make ammo with a Lee Loader

The best part for me is having made/sold various devices used for the reloading processes. So, it’s been an enjoyable hobby that is also a source of income vs expenditure. The only way I could ruin it, is to make it a job…:)
