Bad experience in gun store in Georgia

Bad service doesn't happen in just gun stores. I was in the local J.C. Penney's doing some X-mas shopping and got blown off by the sales clerk. She knew I had been waiting patiently for her to finish helping another customer. A guy in an Armani suit walked up to the counter and she dropped everything to wait on him. I went straight upstairs to the store office and told the manager. By the time I got back to the jewelry counter, the clerk was waiting for me and was very helpful. You don't have to suffer in silence. If you can't get prompt, curteous service, take you money down the road. There are people out their who want your business and will work hard for it.:)

I have never been treated rudely in a gun shop, dealt with some morons, but they were usually civil enough. I deal with my customers the same whether they are spending $20 or $20,000. I try to be friendly and professional, and I expect my employees to do the same. I have fired more than one because of a customer complaint. Some customer can get a little overbearing and difficult to work with. We dont make as much profit as we would like on every job, but people will spread the word if you treat them badly.

BullsEye customer ...

Medic,

I need to ask, was the kid really good sized or small and slight? The "manager" or head salesman has his 20yo boys (small and slight) working there with him and they are usually ok to deal with, polite and helpful. The large mid twenty guy is an a%%hole, in every way, shape or form. I have purchased three handguns from them in the last few years and every time this guy is in there I walk out empty handed and shaking my head. As soon as the night/weekend guys are there, I start buying.

Last time I was in there, this guy told me I should learn to shoot right handed and stop bugging him for guns with ambi controls. In his HO, all "operators" learn to shoot right handed, so should I. What a j/o.

Anway, I wish you would try to shop there at night, nice guys then, especially the guy that brings his crazy affectionate Australian Sheperd to work. But definetly send a letter to Glenn or Bull ... he would want to know.

Welcome to THR.

Big kid

The big kid was the one that was such a smart aleck. The other two boys (twins) are pretty nice guys. I think they are the owner's sons. I don't know about the other one, but I think he is Randy's spawn as well. Could be wrong. Anyway, yeah I have dealt with some of the others around there and they are all pretty nice. One other thing about the old man there. I called up one day asking about prebans, and the old man gave me an "estimate" on one of the guns up on the wall. I asked him if he would get it down and give me the type and exact price. He told me I should just come on down there. Too lazy to even look up an ID for me. Anyway, thats just a little more rant.
Merry Christmas to all.

I am always amazed at how some Gun store workers treat people, how is someone who may be on the verge of becoming interested in guns and gun culture ever supposed to get stareted when he goes in asks a seemingly improtant question and gets shot( figuratively) down. We may have a easier time rebounding from a rude person but what of the people who have no other way of finding out info. I was just on another forum talking about a rude person in a gun store and how it made him feel, since I work closeby I went in and realized the best most proffesional service, same store different salesperson ***. I guess we cant always tell what or who we are gonna get. If I were a gun store owner I would treat everyone and every question as important. None of us were born with gun knowledge. We need to be the teachers.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience at Bullseye. I have bought a quite a few guns there and the night guys are easy going and let you take all the time you want. The larger kid, Jeremy, is the big brother of the twins and they all belong to Randy who is the owner, if I'm not mistaken. Jeremy is a smart mouth but I just just sass him back and he gets me what I want. I admit it's not everybody's cup of tea to get smart remarks but I just let it roll off my back. I think a letter to Randy or a link to this thread would get some results as he seems to be a good guy every time I dealt with him.

I live in Sugar Hill and I bought a VEPR K from them and used to frequent the store till I finally had enough of the rudness. The last straw was when I took a new shooter to the store and she was treated rudely as well. At that point I knew it was not just me. Anyhow I will NEVER buy from them again! I also recommend Bernies. His daughter is also very knowledgable and cute too!

Medic Guns, do you work as a medic around the area? I work for Dekalb County as a fire/medic. take care.

Hey Med 10, I do not work on a med unit right now. Years ago I worked on a bus in Banks. Right now I am in the industrial setting while I pursue my degree in Accounting. I finish this year coming up. I have pretty much had it with EMS. It is demanding; I do love it, but I must part with it now. I hope to start for my Master's at the end of next year. I dreamed for several years of attending medical school, but a few doctor friends of mine are fed up with the 'system' and advised against it. Anyway, I would rather shop elsewhere than play games with Jeremy. I really should write Randy a letter to let him know what is going on there. Funny thing is, one day I was looking at an HK 30 round mag for my 9mm, and one of the twins went to put it away in the case as I was walking away, and Randy starts coming unglued, saying, "Where is that HK mag," like someone 'walked off' with it, or something. I said, "Your son is putting it away. I just get a bad vibe with that place. The only good experience I had was when I bought a couple of those HK 94 clone guns. They treated me decent that day. I will not go back. I have a few more purchases to make in the next few months, and I can do that online. The last pistol I bought was from a guy I met online. He bought a new P7M8 at Bullseye and then sold it to me for a nice price after I shot it on the range there. I guess he only had it for 4 or 5 months at the longest. One great gun!
Oh yeah, Bernie's daughter. She is REAL nice. I actually bought my Ti Jframe from her. She had just put it in the display case when I walked in that day. Nice gun, nice girl. I need to drop by there sometime. Are they still on Indian Trail?

Bernies is now at 345 Killian Hill Road in Lilburn near Five Forks Trickum.
(Yes folks, that is the name of a real road in Gwinnet County, GA)

Dixie is also another favorite of mine.

I have never been to Bullseye as it is on the wrong side of town for me, but I have heard good things about the place.

Normally, and I know some will not agree, I simply buy from the place that has the best price. Afterall, I am buying the gun, not the salesperson. That is just me.

I have had good luck at Adventure Outdoors in Smryna as their selection is HUGE. I have recently bought guns at Galyans in Kennesaw too (one of their salespeople (Mr. Douglas) is a Olympic shooter and has one of his Olympic guns on display in the display case).

I still need to try Bargain Barn in Jasper, GA. I buy alot of my stuff off the internet or face to face.....

My brother ran into a similar situation a while back. Therefore, he stopped visiting that shop.
A few weeks later the owner ran into him on the street, he asked why he hadn't been in. Bro told him the reason and said he and his money wouldn't be back.

The owner apolgized and the sales staff were replaced ASAP.

I would make sure you get your complaint to the right person. With the kind of money you've spent there I think they will fix it.

I couldn't agree with you enough about Shooters. Everytime I went in there I was treated like a jerk. I actually ended driving pretty far out of the way to shoot at the spot in Smyrna.

Anywho, the folks at Dave's Gun Room in Norcross are great. Bargain Barn has great prices but it's a haul to get out there. Adventure Outdoors gets a second from me. If you're into high price shotguns Beretta EELLs and such, the place to go is Chucks Firearms in Buckhead. He's steep but has the best service around--and admits to both!

Best of luck in Atlanta and stay away from shooters!

Mark

Good service at Dave's Gun Room in Norcross.

I've been doing business for over twenty years with Joe Sheehan at the Gun Cabinet in Augusta.

Bernie's is good.

This is all great news to me, considering the fact that I'm planning to open a firearms/milsurp store in the NE Georgia area in the next 24 months. Hopefully all these knuckleheads will keep up their antics.

firearms/milsurp

Fix ...

Where and when? Thats great news and I myself would consider it an honor to patronize a fellow THR's establishement.

Keep us all informed?

Stephens, Habersham, Banks, or Franklin County. Working on funding for initial inventory now. I'll worry about the real estate a bit later, but it will be in that general area. Hoping to have everything ready to roll by Q1 2006. Military surplus, new and used firearms, sporting goods, and hopefully an indoor/outdoor range complex...although that might come a bit later. If things go well, I plan to have a smithy on staff. Will definitely keep THR posted.
