Bagged at work - Damn!!

If it were me, I would probably just keep quiet about it unless he happens to bring it up. Also, I would try to not surf on company time. (Depending on company policy.) Usually that is a big no-no. It is far too easy to get caught. Even if you erase the history and delete cookies, it is easy to dig deeper and find out every website you have been to. If he hasn't said anything yet, there is a good chance that he will just let it slide. Best of luck.

Well I think your sunk actually.
Your in Massachusetts for christs sake for one, and report to an anti-gunner at heart who has seen you looking at gun and not doing your work to boot.

Well it's Monday and the CTO is in Montreal and there's no emails from HR to come to a "Training" session. Yeah, our HR department asks you to come to training to lure you in quietly before they can you. Weak.

It's only been a short time, but I think the guy knows me enough to realize I'm not a slacker. I put in long hours, travel all over as needed and have over 10 major projects in the works right now. Hummmm, maybe getting laid off wouldn't be such a bad idea. Vacation!

Tell him your taking a course in "polymer fabricating and design", and that was your home work assignment.

dont ask and dont tell.

...and shop for glocks
...and post on THR from work

:neener:

UPDATE - You know it's funny how life is sometimes. Prime example is this situation with the CTO.

Yesterday I was at the weekly practice USPCA at my local club. I was waiting for a call from one of my guys to go over a problem he was working on in NJ. So, when the cell phone range and it was work, I was fully expecting to talk to my guy. Instead, it was the CTO looking for an update on the problem. Wouldn't you know that as soon as he says his name and that he's looking for an update, the timer goes off starting the next guy through the course. Bam, bam bam bam over and over again as I'm trying to explain about the problem and how it was going to be fixed. He didn't comment on it once and actually paused during a rather long string of constant shooting. Hummmmmm, if that doesn't get me out of the frying pan and into the fire, nothing will!

One thing in your favor is the fact that he's from Australia, but has chosen to work in the US. He can't be rabid anti-US, even if he is in Socialist MA.

You might think of this in the same terms as the European Brain Drain, which is the theory that any European worth a rat's rear left home for opportunities in the US long ago. Maybe he's fleeing the country.

Never know

Hey, you're still working it sounds like. And maybe this boss just has a lot of pent up aggression with no release. I can't speak for everyone, but nothing works out aggression for me quite like hitting the range and sending a few paper perpetrators (as I laughingly call them) to that big trash bin beyond. I'd say approach the idea of guns and shooting cautiously in conversation sometime as best you can, and if he doesn't seem uber anti, invite him to shoot. You can never tell, he might take you up on it and thank you later. Who knows... you might actually see him smile! :what:

This phone call just gave you the perfect opprotunity to talk to him about it.

Now you can say how you are a shooter in an "organized sporting group", not some "scary loner gun-nut".

Discuss the type of shooting you do, why you do it, and invite him to go.

Just tell him you live in a REALLY bad neighborhood :D and need the Glock for self defense. After the phone call, he should buy that. :neener:

Ummm...this wasn't during office hours was it?? The fact that he paused and waited for the shooting to stop indicates to me that he was probably quite annoyed. I hope this all works out for you. :)
