BATFE Straw Sales: Outrageous

In general I support law enforcement's efforts to curtail and prosecute illegal activity using the sting approach. One has to commit the crime first to be guilty. In the case of the Gunrunner scandal that the ATF and the Obama Justice Department are clearly involved in, part of me wants to give the ATF some rope to do their jobs. But they didn't bust anyone important.... The other side of me keeps believing that this whole thing is all about politics and eventually more stringent gun control favored by the Obama Administration including Holder will somehow be inflicted onto law abiding Americans.

The Andrew Traver nomination (to head the ATF) has me convinced that President Obama is working behind the scenes to promote his non-legislative gun control agenda because he knows that proposed stringent legislation will most likely go nowhere. Obama's Czars are an example of trying to bypass the legislative review process to promote his personal agendas and reward his cronies with high paying jobs on the inside of his Administration.

This government shutdown and the reductions in the 2010 budget were a joke. The Traver nomination is more of the same.

I predict that the Gunrunner fiasco just gets swept under the rug because there will be no evidence and perhaps an ATF person has to resign (not prosecuted) because he/she is the scape goat. Holder and Obama have already said they have no knowledge of the operation.

I keep looking for black helicopters. :D

Phoenix Division ASAC Gillett (whistleblower) experiencing retaliation

Ironic since the LA Times quotes Agent Vince Cefalu as saying that Gillett was one of the agents who tried to retaliate against the initial whistleblowers.

That is a bad sign for whoever at ATF is responsible for this program though as Cefalu also says that Gillett knows where all the skeletons are and has immunity now.

I do to, but not when it means putting up to 1,700 usable firearms in the hands of criminals that will use them to murder innocent civilians and police officers. That is incompetence on parade. League of idiots I tell you.

Gunwalker was in News of the Weird in this morning's paper.

On other fronts:

The South American news coverage out of Caracas said the ATF "gunwalker" lost track of over 1200 guns out of 2000 they allowed to cross the border.

According to US DoJ OIG report, Mexican authorities said they were not submitting guns to ATF traces because they did not expect to get useful info from the traces. Why? I suspect it is because foreign news coverage points out most heavy weapons for the cartels are smuggled from Central America. That appears to me to be the reason ATF let the guns walk across the border: so they would have something to trace.
