I have a friend in the Canada who has a Beretta 1934 in 9mm. ( he bought in 1963 when he was stationed Cape Town Africa) He was informed by the RCMP and local police that he will have to turn it in for destruction if he can not put a longer barrel on it. It has the original 3 3/8 inch barrel.
Can any one direct me in the right direction on finding a replacement barrel for him.

Thanks in advance.

Joe.

I don't know of any extended barrels made for the 1934.

He may have to find a gunsmith to permanently attach a length of barrel onto it, or find a skilled machinist to fabricate a longer one using the dimensions of the original. It's not going to be cheap.

By the way, the model 1934 is chambered for .380 ACP; the left side of the slide will be marked either 9mm Corto or 9mm Kurz, otherwise known as 9mm Short.

Have him get in touch with the gunsmith (Doug) at Epps http://www.ellwoodepps.com/ I had him make up an extended barrel for my Beretta M1934. It ran about $150 - having the gun reregistered to reflect the new barrel took some time however.

If your friend has had this gun since 1963 he should be grandfathered for possessing short barreled pistols. Also, the gun is actually in .380 ACP - the Italian designation for that caliber is 9mm Corto (Short) but I imagine he knows that already.
