I have not posted in this forum for a while. Just wanted to say that I am extremely disappointed in the new Beretta 92X. It has serious QC problems. I cannot fire a round without a stovepipe. The slide does not lock open on the last round.
I have owned several 92 Series over the years. This is the latest; made in Tennessee. I will tell you I will NEVER buy a Beretta again. As soon as this one gets back from the factory repair facility, it will be sold or traded ASAP.
I was issued the M9 in the Army. Never had any problems. This is extremely disappointing.
I own several Canik pistols that put the Beretta to shame. They cost me much less than the Beretta. Pretty sad that a Turkish made firearm completely outclasses a Beretta.
After experiencing my issues with the 92, I read that this is a common problem. I guess I should have read about it before buying. But then, since I have owned probably five other 92s over the years that were great guns, who knew?
Buyer Beware.

It will be interesting to see if the factory fixes the problems. I had the 92X on my list of future purchases…I may have to rethink that. Like you, I e never had a problem with a Beretta, somit’s surprising to hear this is SOP for them now.

I am sorry to hear you have problems with your 92X. About a year ago I purchased a Beretta 92X compact. It turned out to be one of my favorite home defense pistols and range gun. It has never missed a beat even with my reloads. It’s accurate and a beautiful pistol.

What grain projectile were you shooting? Good firm grip on the gun?

User-induced stovepiping is caused by limp wrist, lighter weight projectiles (lower power factor), dry slide recoil surfaces contribute. Personally, I'm a proponent of skipping all the lighter grain loadings when breaking in a new firearm just to get it to settle in.

I'm assuming this is not the case, in your situation seeing how you carried an M9 in the military.

You are right that this should never have made it to you the consumer and have issues like this. But such is the case it seems nowadays.

Perhaps this is not your issue, but do the malfunctions this guy has at the beginning of this video look like the problems you were having?

I purchased a Beretta PX4 Storm in .40S&W a few years ago. The polymer from developed a hairline cracked in it. I sent it to Beretta . They kept it 2 months , and returned it with a red tag ( do not operate) on it. They blamed American Eagle ammunition. They said it was a hot load (180) grain. They never even disassembled it . And even informed me that they have the serial number recorded incase i tried to send it back again I sold it for parts for $250 , and never bought Bereta again. Several freinds of mine have had bad service experiences with Betetta.

I too am done with Beretta.

I bought a 92X Performance that went back twice because I could not get the slide off with ANY Beretta barrel, but it would with a Taurus barrel. After the second time there it sort of worked (they ground the inside of the frame where the underside of the barrel was rubbing) and I converted it to a .357 Sig and .40 with a blued Brig slide never to be a 9mm again.

I wrote about my new M9 that I bought a few months ago. It flopped after 42 rounds.

Turns out the trigger bar spring fell out of the groove it rides in, causing my issues.

I fixed it while in the process of replacing the springs and cleaning up heavy/gritty factory trigger system with a M*CARBO kit.

Now it works as it should have, with a much smoother and lighter DA/SA trigger.

Sorry to hear about your experience, I hope it gets repaired and back soon.

Stay safe.

You've owned several but happened to possibly get one that has issues, so you want to bash Beretta?

Typical of forum membership. Cry the loudest or sing praises about whatever they spent their monies on.

Every manufacturer has produced lemons. It’s what they do about it that matters.

I’d probably own zero guns if I used the forum complaint scale for purchasing decisions. :what:

I have a pair of Galantin-made Berettas and they have been flawless. I've seen several Ackokeek guns fail in various ways.
The M92 aint perfect, but its at least as good as any other full-size autoloader- once in a while you a problem. It happens.

I tried my friends 92F with reloads that shot well in my CZ, Lugar, P365, Beretta Apex, and Mossberg MCS. If functioned poorly. Tried with some hotter loads and it works great. I too want one. Sorry to hear of your issues.

I have 3 Beretta pistols, one being the 92x. Story;
Years ago a friend let me try out his dad's M9. I was enamored with that pistol, it had an excellent trigger and it was like the gun and I were made for each other. My groups were insanely good, like one hole at 15 yards good. I wanted one. I found a great deal on a 92S and bought it. Disappointed is putting it lightly...about how I felt with that pistol. It was one of the least accurate pistols I have ever used. I got rid of it and later bought the 92x. It is better than the 92S, but nothing compared to that M9. The 92X just doesn't group nearly as well as the M9 and has random flyers in no consistent direction. Maybe I need to just buy an M9, but I am wondering if it's going to be as good as my buddies dads if I do...
BTW, non of the mentioned Beretta pistols (including the PX4 Storm 45, and PX4 compact 40 both of which I like) have malfunctioned in anyway.

Yes. I am bashing Beretta. Apparently their move to TN has not gone well. You can be a Beretta fanboi at your own peril. My Caniks are much better guns.

Oh good for you.

alright well Caniks haven't been without there problems. Doesn't mean they require bashing. every gun company has had lemons leave the shop. good luck with your Beretta

I too am done with Beretta.

Say what? How did you install that Taurus barrel if you could not get the slide off with the original barrel? This just makes no sense.

I don't want one after the negative things we hear not just here, but in my shooting circles. Son was an SOC Marine before they named them MARSOC. He said the only good thing he could say about them is they always went bang. I'll not give them a chance. My son and I both carry and actively shoot 1911s but for 9 mm I use a Belgian High Power I lucked into. I carry nothing for defense whose bullet size doesn't start with 0.400". YMMV. Packy.

I've owned several 92 variants over the years. The latest was a 92x Centurion purchased in December. After adding an LTT slide, trigger job in a bag, Holosun EPS, and a TLR7 I intend to make it my primary carry gun for as long as I can shoot it effectively.

My experience has been different from the original post.

Any gun made has the potential for a lemon, so that is a risk.

I have one 92X and several 96Brigdier pistols. All have been as reliable as he BERETTA reputation would make you expect and more accurate than most 9m.m. or .40 S&W pistols.
My experience with the 92S is that these are WELL USED pistols that have already gone through at least half their expected lives. I You may get a good one or you may get one with some issues.
On one of my 92S pistols, the grip screws keep unscrewing. I do not shoot them that often, so I can live with it, especially at the low price I paid. They also have small sights and safety levers, plus the heel located magazine release slows down reloads. Also, the trigger is not as nice as my 96D, M9A3 or 92S.
On the other hand, I paid less than $350.00 for each one.

When I retire later in the year, I intend to order a LANGSTON 92X Compact.

Jim
