I am new to THR, please go easy on me. I have searched the website a lot for valuable information, but have never posted before, here goes:

My Beretta Jetfire shoots 3" to the right at 7 yards and I would like it fixed.

Ammunition is not an issue, nor is the shooter.

A tightly fitting rod through the pop-up barrel verifies that it is pointed slightly to the right (about 0.025") at the breech face.

I could open up the rear sight with a file, but the slide would be ruined, so I thought about trying to put the gun (gently) in a vise and bend the barrel against the aluminum frame until it was straight again.

Will I ruin the gun or is this barbaric tactic effective with the little pop-up barrels?

It bothers me that my $50 mouse guns shoot better than the $150 Beretta...

Thanks gentlemen, blessed Easter!

Duane

If you attempt to bend the barrel against the aluminum frame you will likely rip it off the frame.
I'd take the matter up with Beretta and see if they would replace a crooked barrel on guarantee. If not, I'd sell it to somebody who believed in point shooting.

Won't tell you to do this, but I had a 4" .22short version (yep..made 4" barrled ones...this one was pre-1968 and didn't have the safety lever) that I wanted to shoot "on".

Was a little slop in the barrel hinge... ended up shimming the side of the locking sction to tweak the barrel over to the right AND to take out the slack. Now if your gun is new and tight, may not have that little bit of slack...but if you do, can try temp. shims until you find the thickness you need...then soft soldier one on.

That little .22short went on a lot of fishing trips.

Thanks very much to Jim and ribbonstone.

I'm looking into a laser bore sighting device, maybe that will help find the problem.

Thanks again!

Its a 22 last ditch pocket pistol not a target pistol. I be happy with 3 inch a 7yds and use some Ky windage. I have a 950 in 25 auto I draw and empty fast as I can a paper plate if their all their at 10 to 15 feet Iam happy.Because that the way I would use for real. Lots of holes very quick and I'm out of their.

You're right, of course. It's just sad that a $45, chrome plated, pimped-out pearl grip Raven 25 shoots dead on and the Beretta...Must be some mistake.

But the Beretta feeds and fires every time (stay away from CCI Blazer, primers are too hard) can put 9 rounds in the center of mass in very short order without the sights. And that's what close range self-defense is all about, right?
Probably would carry my KelTec P3AT or NAA Guardian anyways once I get my CCW. Just seems a shame...

Guess it wqas about 1984 or so...after a combat shoot in Amite, La. (before the police range..was in a gravel pit). Use to set up little personal compettitions after the main event.

Friend set up two lines of the steel gongs (5 in each line) barely balanced on the back edge of the stand. He had a Berrets JetFire and i was still shooting an old Colt, both in .25acp. Range was only 10 yards.

He beat me becasue I spun one...so my 6 shots were a bit slower than his 5.

Do not belive the .25acp is inaccurate...the guns may be or may not be, but generally they have a lot more accurracy in them than the shooter can get out.
