Besides an AK-47

Don't know much about the Ak just what they sound like when they are shooting at you!! Where do you get an AK chambered for 5.56 or is it a chamber mod on existing AKs? Kinda like the looks of the AK 74..... 3 corp. 1969-1970 Charley Company 227 First Cav. Rude crude and highly unsophisticated but almost invisible..

I got mine in California in the early '90's from a friend who was a dealer. I ordered it because I wanted one chambered in the current ammo the military uses for availability for SHTF scenarios. I couldn't afford an AR at the time and my experience with them in Viet Nam also played a part in my decision. With the changes in the AR platform those feelings have changed.

There are a number of 5.56x45mm AK's on the market. They are not common, but they are out there, and new ones can be ordered from places like Arsenal and Krebs, IIRC. I have even seen 5.56 AK's with permanent adapters fitted to allow them to use STANAG magazines.

AK's chambered in 5.45x39mm (the Russian equivalent of 5.56x45mm) are probably more common, and is the round used in the civilian AK-74 lookalikes.

Semi-auto Krinkov wanna-be parts gun vs. 18" AR.

Useless example Take an actual AKM like the Maadi or Norinco and the AR will give up the ghost way before they do I've a Norinco Thumbhole stock AKM that I never cleaned in 15 years and its never given a lick of trouble. I finally cleaned it a a couple of years ago before converting it to evil pistol grip configuration changing the furniture and trigger parts

Lets see your AR or M16 do this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xe2jUEaTBVA

Uh, no. That was actually an honest-to-god full auto Krinkov I rented from an NFA Title II dealer.

As for my ARs, absolutely none of them have ever caught on fire as a result of successive mag dumps.

I don't really see how a rifle catching on fire could be considered a good thing, unless you're fresh out of lighter fluid and have a desperate need to light a stogie.

Quite happy with my vz-58, great reliable rifle. I would also say the FAL is known for great reliability - I just can't afford one, or to feed one. :)

Did you even read the OP? Here it is again:

Which is the most durable/dependable assault rifle besides an AK-47?
Have you read what Century does to roller-locked designs when it kludges them back together?

Doesn't it seem odd that H&K 93 rifles fetch thousands of dollars on the used market, and the H&K clones in all calibers from PTR run over a grand?

Your post would be more apt in a thread titled "Best boat anchor" or "Best paper weight". It is unsuitable for this thread.
