Hi im new here. I have been a lurker here for years and have found great info and inteligent people here so i joined and wanted to ask some opinions on what you guys think is the Best all steel 9mm for competitive shooting? Im new to competition I like all steel pistols with good triggere, accuracy, reliability, and capasity. Also not a big fan of pistols with decocker because if they have them some events make you shoot DA for the firts shot. I have a few in mind but am going to wait to mention them untill I hear what you guys have to say. So I don't lead the conversation in one direction before I get your opinions. Thanks

You might have had better luck in the Competitive Shooting forum.

Now, if you have a 100 year old target pistol you need to identify, this is the right forum.

I have ask a mod to move your post.

CZ-75. There are those who don't like their factory triggers, but these pistols are highly customizable and very accurate.

All steel, single-action 9mm? 1911, Hi-Power, the rare Beretta Steel 1, a few variants of the CZ75.

What kind of sport are you planning to shoot with this? Those attributes put you in special classes in some disciplines.

Yeah, I thought of saying CZ-75 in general, but most of those do operate both DA & SA. There are a few single-action only models, though.

(In IDPA, you can start a CZ-75 either SA or DA, but starting it SA puts you in the "Enhanced" division.)

Sorry if this is in the worng section I thought hey firearms research and thats what I was doing lol. I am not sure as to what types of competition maybe 3 gun. Or steel. I guess ill have to see whats available near me. Thanks for the responses so far. I have been considering the cz sp01 shadow.

I made the same choice years ago.
The CZ 75 Shadow is designed to qualify for any IDPA and USPSA requirements for any class and can have an outstanding trigger in both DA and SA. (This is not the CZ SPO1 Shadow)
If I could let you try my new 75 Shadow (NO TAC RAIL), you wouldn't have a question. I have a 3# SA because in run-and-gun I had trouble controlling a 2# trigger. My DA hasn't being weighed yet, but it's likely less than 6# and can be made lighter with a $7 spring. No decocker to add trigger hardware. No Firing pin interrupt to add more trigger hardware.
Dual safeties. Competition rear, height adjustable sight, Fiber Optic front sight. 19 round mags easily modified to 23rds for other type competitions. Can use inexpensive 16rd Mec-Gar or CZ mags.

The CZ 75 SPO1 Shadow is approved for Production class USPSA/IPSC but doesn't make SSP weight easily for IDPDA. It too is a very good pistol with a good trigger.

ymmv depending on "WHAT" you intend to compete in.

Sviguns.com

Will take a year+ and over $3k but they are the best.

Midwest Hunter has some IFG imported Tanfoglio Witness Gold Custom Eric models for $2100. These are full on comp guns based on a CZ 97 evolution.

I like para's warr vs cz cz only 5 yr vs para lifetime. A lthough both are known as reliable

maybe 3 gun. Or steel.
You need to decide first, before anyone can recommend a gun that would be satisfactory for either game.

One gun & caliber will not be optimal for both combined, or either separately.

I already have a kimber custom2 in .45acp. I am looking for somthing in 9mm

Would like somthing capable of compeeting at a mid to high level. Even though I know the gun is not as important as the shooter.

I started with the cz 75B and put over 60K rds throught it in comp.--mostly my reloads.
Broke two slide stops over the years. I also added most all the upgrades available. Great gun.

I recently upgraded to the CZ Custom Shop's 9mm 75 Shadow. I only have about 800 rds throught it without any issues. . The action was worked and polished and the SA trigger set at my 3# request. It was ready to run when I got it. The optional Hajo rear Adj. Comp. Sight is exactly like the Competition fixed sight but height adjustable to adjust for load changes. The target sent with it had a 1" group at 25yds , all in the bull.

They had already cleaned and oiled it. It was ready to run OOB. I've run five different bullet reloads through it and all ran smoothly and shot to point of aim out to 25yds. 124 plated RN, 124 plated FP, 124 JHP, 125 JHP and 130 plated RN.

I lightened the DA pull another two pounds or so with another hammer spring and it shot 100% with a little over 100 rds since.

This is a production/SSP class gun. It also works very well for Steel Challenge .
If you want to move up to Limited or Open class like recommended above, there are many more options available, most based on a 1911-type frame or the CZ Czechmate for 9mm major. ($2995 ready to run with a C-Mor red dot :D)

Other than that, all I can say is I really like the pistol. You can stay well under your price with all the options.

I would pick up an STI 2011.... It might not be "all" steel, but it is primarily steel and it shoots just as soft as any full steel gun I have ever shot (more accurately, too).
