When you need to just plain STOP someone or something from functioning, my vote goes for the 1 oz 12 guage slug just about every time.

I agree -- I just haven't been able to come with an IWB holster that fits my Ithaca Model 37. ;)

Vern,
an IWB for a Ithaca?? Well why didnt you ask??I will get right to work on that, as soon as I get done with the crotch holster for the Deagle 50 :neener:

I knew a guy who had his hippie/druggie phase in his teens/early 20's....said out of all of the drugs he tried, crystal meth was the most addictive. He said that the first time he tried it he just could not stop.

Fortunately, he cleaned up his act and was the pastor of a church FWIW.

PCP, meth, speed freaks.....45 or 12 ga would be my antidote of choice if it came to that. If it was somebody I knew I'd dime 'em out in a heartbeat in the hopes that they could recover a sembelance of a normal, productive life.

Yeah another vote for a 12ga slug.
These guys do have alot in common with rotted flesh zombies, except they do it to themselves.
Hawaai has a MAJOR problem with alot of the population hooked on ICE (a form of smoked meth) and acting very violent!
Rural america has the same problem from the LEO's I've talked to across the US saying it is the #1 bizarro drug. Where crack heads stay in the hood for the close by connections, meth heads , due to longer lasting effects range out and do bizarre , violent things.
In the 'Dawn of the Dead' DVD release you can find (if you sit thru the whole trailer) a short 'training session' by Scott Reese of ITTS , who did the firearm work for the movie. I like the slug to the zombie head demo!

All this talk of tweekers makes me want to invest in an AOW shotty for the car . . .

I sometimes (though rarely, I try to avoid it) have to travel through Independence, MO. Sometimes called the "Meth Capital of the World" (don't know how accurate that is, but the place looks it). I had a friend who used to live there and there's a nice big hole in his siding from a stray shot where is neigbors got in a shoot-out.

If I have to go back, or to some other nasty part of town, a "hog leg" would be good to have me-thinks.

Snow-- I had heard that East TN was one of the worst places for it as well.
This must REALLY be a horrible drug, if there are SO many spots in the country where it is so pervasive. :uhoh:

It's darn hard for me to have any sympathy for anyone that uses drugs.

Look for it to be harder, and harder, to get any OTC products that contain Methamphetamine. The DEA is tightening the availability of any products containing List One chemicals, and now outlet that handles these productrs is required to possess a DCDC license. This will not, of course, disrupt the illegal trade in List one Chemical products, but it will make it more difficult for the law abiding citizen to get a bottle of cold medicine.

I reckon .45-70 would convince them to stop everything...like moving, speaking...twitching.......breathing...you get the point ;)

Lots of news reports around here about mobile meth labs. As if drunk drivers weren't enough to worry about, now we have cringe heads driving bombs on wheels.
I CCW a Kimber .45 ACP loaded with WWB 230gr JHP's. At home I have a Winchester 1300 12 gauge, 18.5 inch barrel, loaded with #00 buckshot.

This is an interesting, informative thread.

A semi-related question, if I may -- how big are these meth lab explosions? I happen to know that someone living nearby has been arrested more than once for having a meth lab in his house... :uhoh:

According to a nurse I know who has seen her fair share of drug-related cases, says that while other druggies (crack and heroin) addicts will stoop to extremely low levels to get their fix, methamphetamine addicts can become violent and possible kill to get their drug. It is becoming a problem in America, or at least based on anecdotal evidence. My friend's sister went to rehab for being hooked on the stuff.

Stop, you guys are scaring me. There have been some meth labs busted around where I live. It's bad enough that most of the street hookers around do crack. I know there some meth users in the area.

I keep a loaded S&W Model 10 within arms reach when I'm home. Now you guys make me want to CC when I'm home. I wonder if the nearist gunshop has any deals on snubnose or compact handuns...

Geez wheez.

A couple of tweaker movies for you

The Salton Sea
Spun

Both can be found @ Hollywood or Blockbuster
Both are worth watching.
If you liked Reefer Madness or the Cheech y Chong movies, you'll like these.
Enjoy

Here's an interesting factoid. The studies that convinced the US goverment of the neurotoxicity of Ecstasy were conducted by a fellow named Dr. George Ricaurte, a fellow who secured huge NIH grants to fund his research. During the research they injected animals with the drug, then diced their brains, finding huge damage... Only problem was Ricaurte was injecting the rats with pure methamphetamine by accident, no wonder they developed huge amounts of brain damage!

PS Oh ya, and for the record, 50 Beowulf, with the 300 gr JHP out of a 16" AR-15... with an Eotech on top.

I remember a meth head I knew once who was hallucinating (if you will) that his whole body was itching and he literally scratched a whole mess of his body raw. I saw him in the scabbed over stage, it wasn't pretty...

I don't know, 12 ga seems right, any size shot for me.

280, I second the notion that "scabbies" are not pleasant in person. I'd rather put up with the smell of rotting teeth and liver disfunction than have to sit next to the scabbies. :uhoh:

"The Ballad of Tommy and Marla" by the Rugburns is a good musical explanation of the tweeker lifestyle for those who are curious.

... and pickers. They constantly pick at themselves leaving nasty sores all over which helps them smell the way they do. True zombies...

I'd get in trouble!

Incidentally, if you happen to get ahold of liquid NH3, and you submerge dollar bills in it, they will shrink to approx. 1/3 of their original size. "Don't try this at home, we are trained professionals"

I'd be tempted to try this as a companion display piece for shrunken coins. ;)

Also named as one of the top ten bogus data winners based on this article: Drug Tests find Surge in Really Stupid People
Meth is quickly becoming the drug of choice by all walks of life. Interesting article.
The order of natural selection was successful in insuring that those two weren't able to breed.
Stupid people shouldn't breed. Addiction is a viscious cycle that can only be broken by educating our children. Perfect example of what NOT to do. It is a sad but very real problem. You don't have to be a user to see it is all around us. Mental addiction, IMO is not as difficult to overcome as the physical. (i.e. herione, etc.) I just feel that the rehab programs don't work very well. IMO, 'nuther way to make a buck. Truth is you have to want to quit- no one can do it for you. Ya had a reason to start, ya need a reason to quit.

This is where it gets scary. An explosion can contaminate the air, water, and ground for something like 2 miles all around. What's more, depending on the nature of it, it may be odorless and not immediately detectable. We had a "super lab" shut down in Smyrna near me, and they had to evacuate all the surrounding neighborhoods.

I've also heard horror-stories of LEOs dying or suffering permanent health problems from accidental exposure to the fumes when doing a bust. There was one bust in Florida (IIRC) where two of the deputies had died after eating dirt to try to stop the burning in their throat. Lovely.

.357Sig or Federal .45 Hydrashoks for me. I'll be doing the world a favor.
