I'm looking for a small revolver, possibly a moon clip model or .38/.357, and holster combination that is concealable on a small frame 150#, in summer. I have handled a few .357, and by far the sp101 is my 1st choice for ergonomics, but seems a bit on the pricey side. What else is out there? I have a bersa thunder and with a mikes sidekick IWB holster, I still think it prints on me, but maybe I'm just paranoid. I've seen the no name .38 snubbies in the CDNN flyer, has anyone an opinion of those?

I have a Taurus 905 (9mm moon clip) snubby. The cylinder is shorter than the similar .38 special (M85) and so is very compact. Good pocket gun.

No longer made, but you can find them. The M85 is not a bad choice either as is the S&W snubbies of various sorts.

I have a Taurus 650 .357 snubbie. Keep it in a High Noon IWB holster under nothing but a t-shirt. Doesn't print and can carry all day. I'm about 6'2" and 175lbs.

No such thing as a best one because everyone has their own personal requirements. I would stick to the big brand name models though or research the unknown revolvers to determine their quality.

I have a taurus od 85 15 oz. but I want the SP101 because 357 MAG has much more stoping power.

I carry a Taurus Model 605, all Titanium .357MAG snub. For pocket carry my Taurus Model 851 Ultra Lite .38SPL+P snub works even better.

S&W 340 PD

Expensive as hell, extreme light weight, excessive recoil, but it rides more comfortably on your belt than any other revolver.

I also recommend the Duluth Trading Company Longtail t-shirt. Helps hide your gun, and it4's a great shirt too.

Another bump for the S&W J Frames. I have two M638 and M36. The 638 is much easier to pocket carry. The m36 is much more enjoyable to shoot at the range and carry on a belt!

+1 to Majic

Heck I have a S&W 637, great shooter, conceals well; yet I carry my NAA Mini everyday cause it fits everything I wear.

As Majic stated, YMMV

Smith & Wesson J frame; model 442 (blued) or 642 (stainless); .38 spl +p; internal concealed hammer; double action only trigger system; concelaed hammer protected from material snagging & jamming firing mechanism; blued steel parts on 442 more prone to corrosion, but anondized finish on aluminum frame durable; stainless steel parts on 642 less prone to corrosion, but baked clearcoat finish on aluminum frame not as durable as the anondized finish on 442; both weigh @ 16 oz empty; highly concealable & gives you ability to fire multiple times from inside a jacket pocket if you do not have time to draw gun to take aim; my $ .02 worth :scrutiny:

D Boone,
You will notice a common theme forming here.

The M442, M637, M638 and M642 are all basically the same revolvers. They are all 15 oz Airweight J frames and all .38 Special revolvers, the only difference is the frame style or finish. If you didn't look which you were shooting you couldn't tell which of the four you are shooting because they are so similar. BTW, they all do weigh 15 oz, not 16 oz.

Is there a revolver that is bigger than a .22 NAA minirevolver but smaller than a Smith and Wesson .38 titaniums models? It there was such a revolver of high quality and still available...that would be the ultimate deep CCW revolver. Any ideas???

(I know that NAA has a prototype for a .32 revolver.)

I have a 1990's version of the colt det spec and a nemisis pocket holster. Add a Bianchi 6 shot speed strip to that little watch fob pocket of My shorts or jeans and I'm out the door......WVleo

Sounds Like S&W might be the way to go. Gonna go check out some along with some Charter Arms. Anyone have experience with those?

Don't have experince with Charter Arms, they are priced nicely, but are not the "big three" (Colt, S&W, and Ruger)

also depends on if you want a new gun or a used gun. there are a ton of nice used S&W revolvers out there, the new S&W revolvers generally have a internal gun lock that many people do not trust due to cases where it has locked up at the wrong time.

The ruger offering of SP101 is very nice, as it is heavy enough to be a nice shooting gun, but light enough to be carried. Also there is the new .327 SP101 that is causing a lot of folks to turn heads.

I don't have experince with Charter Arms, but a Ruger SP101, a pre-lock S&W J-frame are both affordable and high quality.
