I was working in a SW Colorado tourist town as a waiter/bartender, and had about $60 in my wallet. On my way to the bank to cash my meager paycheck (tips are taxed out of the $2-5 an hour, so paychecks were less than $200), I stopped in a going-out-of-business pawn shop. He had a Remington 870 Express, 20" barrel with rem-chokes, parkerized/synthetic, barely used, priced at $150. I pulled out my wallet and started to say "I've got $60 cash, and can get you another $60 within the hour if you'll hold it." But he cut me off at 'cash' and said "Sounds like a deal."
Second best deal: Years later, my 20" barrel just isn't making the longer shots. (My buddies called it the 'shot-carbine'.) I stop by Wally World to price a longer gun, and see a Remington 870 Super Magnum priced for for the regular Express price, under $300 at the time. I believe it was about an $80 price break. They honored the price and were very polite, although I could tell that the manager wasn't happy about it.
