Best/ favorite bolt action .22 rifle?

What is your best and/ or favorite bolt action .22 rifle and why, and what is the best one for the price?

Just bought a Marlin 983s, tube fed bolt action 22 mag. Very, Very accurate, under $300 out the door NIB. I said Marlin because I not kin to Donald Trump(LOL)

the best bolt action would be the Anschutz 1710/1712. it's based on their Olympic winning action and has an outstanding barrel and trigger. the only improvement over this would be a custom Cooper...their stock guns aren't any better

i think the "best for the price" would be the CZ 452. i got my 452 American...no open sights...for $278 from CDNN. for open sights, i have a Romanian M-69 which i got from Big 5 for about $79

Ditto. No need to buy extras to upgrade to shoot accurately. It comes accurate, light, and fun to shoot.

Mark 2's seem to be able to outshoot much more expensive center-fire rifles. Funny isn't it?

Ill second the anchutz (suhls are up there too) recommendation for the best .22lr. My favorite (I have an annie that I will be inheriting, but I can't look at it to determine model #) is my mossberg 44us though. Sentimentality will add a lot of value to a gun.

Best for the price...

Look to a marlin bolt action. They are very accurate.

What sized groups are being reported from the Mark II's at 100y?

I have personally shot 1 MOA targets with my Mark 2. A friend of mine has been able to do slightly better than that with his brother's Mark 2. Same said friend confidently plans on shooting similiar groups with his own Mark 2 now that he has stopped using crap ammo.

I shoot a CZ 452 Special which I acquired last year. She shoots definitely better then I do. It's a well balanced, rather light weight rifle, that I love to shoot off hand with open sights.

Last week I got lucky enough to buy a Winchester Mod 75 Target, which I have yet to shoot.
She sports a Weaver 2x tube scope instead of the iron sights which was installed when the rifle was new. Original sling came attached as well.

She's in very good condition. I'd give her no less then a conservative 95%. The barrel bore is super clean, like a mirror.

Tomorrow might be the day!

Ps, "crap ammo" is a big handicap.

I used to have a 72A with a peep sight and it was a great gun. I let my father trade it in on something or other that he wanted. Might have been a Smith Model 17 w/8.75" barrel and a Burris 2x. It's almost as accurate as the rifle w/the peep sight. My uncle still has an early 72 and it's extremely accurate as well.

Now my favorite is a Cooper Custom Classic with a Leupold 3x-9 EFR ...

The best shooting 22lr for the money in my opinion is the 452 or 453 for around $400.00 less than half inch groups @ 50 yards on everyone that I have ever shot even my sons Scout for $250.00 is capable and it like a wide aray of ammo. That being said I hunt with my 77/22. Ilike the way it feels and shoots almost as accurate as the CZ. Just my .02

"Best" is very subjective, my personal favorite is my Kimber Hunter. It's light, accurate, and has a wonderful trigger. I often use it to play and win games going up against heavy target rifles. My second choice would be the Anschutz 1700. The CZ452s are also fine rifles and are arguably the best bang for the back in a .22 bolt action. The only cons of the CZ is the trigger, IMHO they need a bit of minor tweeking to get them where I like them, and the stamped metal triggerguard, it just does not fit the quality of the rest of the rifle.

My Kimber M82 is one of the finest bolt action .22s I have ever seen.

I also have an M1922 Springfield, MKII that is a fine rifle.

My favorite is a Remington 512 with a Weaver G6 scope mounted. Lot of sentimental value, yes. But this piece has been banging away since 1948 and puts up good competition against the Anschutz, CZ and NS 522 that are in my rack. I enjoy putting them all in a little competition against one another.

I love my CZs but they are just the nicest I own, certainly not near the nicest out there. I have to go with an Anschutz 54 action with whatever barrel profile and stock profile that fits your shooting best.

My favorite is my savage MKII, and for the money, i consider it unbeatable. VERY accurate.

I've done a bunch of homework on this same subject. I've narrowed it down to 2 -- Savage Mk II and CZ 452. From what I've been able to gather, the CZ is built nicer -- nicer wood, nicer fit & finish. Both apparently shoot about the same w/ the weak link being the shooter.

Kimber, Weatherby/Anschutz, Anschutz, etc. are all really nice. And expensive.

CZs are really nice, and less expensive.

Marlin and Savage make some accurate, dependable, fun, American-made bolt rimfires for downright cheap, though.

Then there are used Winchesters, etc., and the Winchester Wildcat, which can be had for some great prices if you look around.

If you want a stand-in for a centerfire, Ruger makes exactly that: a gun with the size, proportions and ergos of their centerfires. The 77/22 is not inexpensive, though.

Old Mossbergs are possibly the best "sleepers." Their barrels are EXCELLENT, but the guns aren't the prettiest things and collectors don't go ga-ga over "Mossberg". For a good shooter for cheap, comb the gun shows and used racks for one.
