1886 Winchester (originals)/Brownings

1894 Winchester, pre-64 or pre-war, no clangy ring thingy please, just a clean sided carbine

1903 Springfield sporters. Would like to do one with high grade wood, in classic style stock with shadowline cheekpiece, good sights (Lyman receiver/sourdough front) for backup, light engraving coverage, gold band on barrel ahead of the receiver.

Marlin 39

Winchester 71, 348 cal

Honorable mention, any early type Winchesters, 1866, 1873, 1876, with extra points for shotgun butts, checkering, high grade wood, etc. Also honorable mention for good Mauser sporters in classic style on commercial receivers.

1) Both Lee-Enfield #5 "Jungle Carbines".:) Skinny shoulders, but enjoy blasting even with no recoil pad.
2) LE #4.
3) Ruger Mini 30.
These LEs are my motivation to learn reloading, and they mostly cured my 'MN fever'.

Have never operated a Garand, but toured the E and F Company ("Band of Brothers") fox holes outside Bastogne Belgium last May on a tour, and a CMP M-1 is the next objective. It will be the first semi-auto (actual) battle rifle in meinem Haus.
Only military-styled rifles, forever.

Here is mine in no particular order, based on a few intangible factors that endear them to me. These are from the rifles I own or owned (should have never sold some), subject to change when I acquire more or when I go shooting next time...

1. Winchester Model 52. If I could have only one .22, this would be it.
2. My Remington 40x benchgun built by Hart in 6mm PPC. Crazy accurate.
3. Anschutz 2013. Shot mine competitively for years.
4. Ruger No. 1 in .243. A great, versatile rifle.
5. National Match M1A. So smooth...

1. SLR-95
2. M1 Garand
3. M1A
4. Marlin 60
5. XCR 6.8spc (don't own it yet, but I'm drooling over one now, so it makes my list).

1. marlin bolt action rimfires - accurate, reliable, sharp looking
2. howa ranchland compact rifles - same as above
3. cz 527 ''
4. bwk 92 sporter and ar 15 are at a crossroads.

hmm omly 5 ?

Browning A Bolt 7 rem mag, 788 rem in 6mm, interarms Mark X in 308 w/ timney trigger, Marlin XL7 in 25 06, and last but not least by any means Marlin 308 express{one really nasty round} of course you know you gotta have a 22. Not into milt. surplus but do have a 03 put up for grandson. Not counting for 5 though. God Bless and Good Luck Happy Holidays

Gew3, or clones, or HK91. Wonderful rifle with great pointing features. Lotsa accessories available for it these days.

CZ452, 527, 550 series of rifles. Superb craftsmanship in excellent long lasting rifles. Can't go wrong.

Kalashnikovs... but Yugo M95 in particular.

Garand. Really one of the great rifles of all time.

Mosin Nagant due to variety and simplicity, robust construction.

Hard to narrow it down to five but I've pretty much chosen with my wallet - four of my favorites are ones I've bought. The fifth I don't have. No particular order...

Home brewed 16" midlength AR; 5.56
Fixed stock AKM; 7.62x39
Marlin 336C; 30-30 (my first rifle back in 1971)
Marlin Model 60; 22LR (second rifle, again 1971)

either an M14/M1A or AR-10; .308

your the man !!!

ha, Ruger ! Ruger ! Ruger #1 300Win Mag Barns X ( I only wished it came in the Mannlicher) but the heavey sporte is a sweet spot.
check out what the U.S. Mar Corps are sniping with ? :)

Bill Ruger........ he sure turned the world around back in the early '50's for sure ! SWEET !

Marlin 1894 - Pistol cartridge carbine that can mount a scope.
CZ 550 - True Mauser Action
M1 Garand - Old School Main Battle Rifle
Savage 10/110 - One of the most accurate out of the box rifles.
Ruger Mini-14 - Great battle rifle that never was. 10 years sooner and it might have been the next battle rifle.

I see a lot of Winchester 94s being listed. Any particular reason? And are you talking pre '64? I can get one cheap from my brother but I don't hunt so I'm not sure what I'd do with it.

I see a lot of Winchester 94s being listed.
I went back and counted...only 7 were mentioned, out of the millions made, I would bet that most were likely due to sentimental reasons because it is an old rifle (not that it is a bad rifle) that is often passed down.

:)

Savage 17 HMR, critter getter
Winchester M70, best hunting rifle ever made and my favorite action (CRF)
R700, can you really go wrong
AR-15, so many options and fun shooter
Surgeon Remedy (338lap), sub moa at a mile, need i say more?
