Best/ favorite bolt action .22 rifle?

My Remington Model Five is quite accurate. It's easily in the same arena with the CZ's and Savages...

I also have a Browning T-Bolt (new production) that's also quite impressive... but, it IS a Browning...

All of the other previously mentioned rifles are all quite good... some better (for the money) than others. But you can't go wrong with any of them...

Cheers...

My absolute favorite was the Anschutz I used during my time in college. I think the model was 1913L. The rifle was a dream to shoot offhand and shot beyond my abilities as a marksman. Sadly, we had to part ways on December 22nd last year :(

So now I have to "settle" for my CZ-452 LUX, which is still an incredible shooter and nicely fills every role for a .22 that I have.

I have a Cooey Model 39 that still shoots as good as it did 50 years ago.It is single shot and I won a scope from CIL back in the early 70's and it cost me $10 bucks to mount it and I got my first deer with it. I have a 1 inch scope on it now 40 years later and it probbably has many more years left in it.

My Tula Toz 78-01, was $100 back in the day from Centerfire. Ugly as heck, but shoots alot better than I can.

My favorite is my little Chipmunk. Shoots great, has a pretty good trigger, and I just love the "miniature" rifle proportions.

I would also say that the best bang for the buck would be any of the older used American made 22s. often can be found for around$100. I just picked up a Remington 341-p for 99.95 today. We will see how it shoots soon. I've found some good deals on older Mossbergs from time to time, and they all shot very well.

Take care,

Tom

My favorite is the Winchester 52 Sporter......took 25 years to find it. Price?....I'm not telling, but it's worth every penny.

What every .22 bolt action has tied to equal....only a couple have come close.

You win.

Another great shooter for 1/8th the money is the Remington 541-S. I think the 100 yard rimfire world sporter record is still held by one. I like mine anyway, faux Weatherby styling and all.

My favorite is the Remington 541-S. It is hard to beat as an overall great rifle where accuracy is deemed a top priority on a sleek sporter design.

If buying a new rifle today, I think the best value for the price is either the Savage Mark II Classic or CZ 452.

my favorite, cz452 fs pretty much accurate outa the box w/scope or iron sights but found myself shooting more with irons, more fun and challenging

I have a remington target master that my Dad just passed down to me, he has had it since the 60s. It is always dead on, has the target peep sights, single shot, never misses a beat!!

I have heard bad things about the 77/22. However, my 77/22M is an honest minute-of-angle rifle with ammo it likes,

Well, they're Rugers. I expect to hear bad things about them.

On the other hand, both of my 77/22's (LR) shoot just fine also.

I don't know if they're "the best" or not, there's a lot I haven't shot, but they're my favorite.

Why? Classic good looks. I admit I wanted one from the first time I saw them twenty years or so ago. Solid feel. They look and feel like a "big rifle." Performance is plenty good enough for me.

Made in 1984. First year for the 77/22. Scope is an old Japanese 2x7x32 Simmons. I've killed a lot of squirrels with this gun.

1987. I don't know who put the Green Mountain barrel on it, or what other work has been done to it. I bought it this way except for the scope. I've shot it one time "out back" and it shot just fine. One of these days I'm going to have to take it to the range.

It’s hard to beat CZ’s for the price. There are a couple of Sako Quads w/ single barrel around or about $450 online or at http://www.whittakerguns.com/.
CZ was my favorite until the Quad hit the range. I don’t think you can beat ether one unless you go with a 54 action Anschutz at over twice the cost.

I was able to get this group with the Quad and Wolf MT yesterday.

Marlin 981T

With this rifle and a $5 daisy BB gun scope I can shoot out primers of 12ga shells with every shot at 25 yards.
Oh yeah, the best part about this gun was that I paid less than $100 for it as I had a $50 gift card to Gander Mtn. And I suppose I should mention the ammo I shoot in my .22LRs...bulk 550 crap from Wallyworld.

"from Wallyworld."

Oh c'mon, you can't fool me, everybody knows Wallyworld doesn't have any ammo. :p

I haven't shot a Sako Quad, but it looks like it's a good shooter like the Finnfire - mine is a sporter.
