I am sorry if this sounds odd but is Hoppes #9 the best gun oilto clean and lubricate my revolver? Thank you for any suggestions.

Hoppes #9 is a very old and well respected Nitro Powder Solvent for cleaning firearms.
But it is not oil.

You need to clean the gun using #9 solvent, then wipe it off and use real oil for lubrication.

Remington brand "Rem-Oil" is a good lube oil, and widely available.
Try any gunshop, or even Wally-World.
They will most likely have it.

Many folks also like Breakfree CLP, which really is a Cleaner, Lubricant, and Protectant, thus the CLP name.

I have a bottle of Hoppes brand oil that has a syringe-like needle for getting in tight spots. I use it to put a few drops on actions, works very well.

I also use Rem Oil on some of my other guns. Depends on what the application is and what kind of mood I'm in, I suppose.
