What is the best inexpensive gun you own or used to own? This could be an otherwise expensive gun that you got a great deal on.

Mine is a S&W Model 27-2 Revolver, 6" bbl.,1978 vintage. Paid $285.00 for it 2 years ago, in excellent condition. Earlier this year, I spent about another $95.00 to get it tuned up (had it regapped, the endshake was shimmed, and the forcing cone was recut). It was a good shooter before I had it worked, but afterwards, it is superb!

How about the rest of you folks?

Taurus 669 which I just sold to Kamicosmos. I didn't even get a good deal on it when I bought it. It's just that good of a shooter and that reliable.

My least expensive is my CZ 52 but the sights and trigger suck and it shoots low.

A Bargain At Twice The Price

Smith & Wesson Model 15 Combat Masterpeice, pinned & recessed, long-ramp front sight. WITH holster...$165.00.

I had no particular need for a .38, but is IS a Smith, and it was only $165.00.

Funny thing is...it is now my starter-centerfire handgun for graduates of the "Sean85746 School Of Rimfire Pistol Shooting".

Best recent purchases

$175, Marlin 336 (1954) w/ Lyman 66 receiver sight, all Ex+

$195, Ruger Security Six, Ex+

Older purchases would look great because of inflation...

My first handgun, a Dan Wesson 15-2. I think I paid $175 for it in 1987 and it came with one box of Remington 158 grain JHP magnums and three or four boxes of commercially reloaded 38 Special 148 and 158 grain loads. Sorry I ever traded it away.

I guess my next best inexpensive gun would be my S&W 19-3. Paid $150 for it, the exterior is rough from LEO neglect, but the interior is nearly new and it came with like new Herret's target stocks.

4" S&W 686 .357 with custom-made wood grips and a wonderful trigger job, for which I paid $300. It had been my dad's duty piece with the Sheriff's Department. His arthritis got bad enough that he couldn't handle the recoil, so he said he was going to sell it. I very quickly offered him the money before any of his fellow deputies could, because I'd fallen in love with that revolver 10 years before. I'm sure my dad would have loved to be able to just give it to me, but my folks needed the money pretty badly, so I was quite happy to pay him for it. So, it is both a family heirloom and a good gun buy. If I ever had to part with all of my guns but one, you can believe this is the gun I'd keep.

Beretta Jetfire. Too bad it's a 25 caliber. Also a shame that it has been discontinued recently.

South American police trade-in S&W model 10-nickel plated for $114! My daughter 'confiscated' same as her house gun. VERY smooth action and shoots to point of aim. Daughter shoots it WELL too!

Firestar in .40 cal. Heavy pistol but it shoots anything and is very accurate and always functions.

FEG PJK-9HP. Parts-compatible with the Browning Hi-Power. I paid $250. I've seen 'em for less.

Bought new? Witness 10mm $285 with 5 magazines. Reliable, powerful, fun.

Bought used? Dan Wesson 15-2, also $285 (if I remember right). Reliable powerful, fun and who cares if I break it....

I got this one for $290 It was marked as a M&P not a Heavy Duty. I also got a like new mod 35-1 for $280.

Iver Johnson TP22 auto...looks like a little Walther PPK. Alloy frame & slide with steel inserts at the wear points, hasn't malf'ed yet and it handles Stingers or Remington Yellow Jackets.
Paid about $100 for it when they first hit the market. I'd like to find a TP25.

Ruger MkII .22lr pistol. $200 new out the door - quick trigger job, and it'll win matches if you do your part. - JM.

My first handguns/guns at 18. (private sale from coworker)

$500 total for....

Mossberg 500 12 ga. (Regal model)
Colt 1911 Series 70 .45
Mauser HsC .380
Ruger New Model Super Single Six (only the .22 Mag. cyl)

I believe I win. :neener:

Ruger service six, appeared unfired for $130.00 OTD.The catch, some took a file and round butted it
leaving lots of tool marks but the grips fit perfectly.Astra A-70 S/A 9mm,most of the bluing has faded but it's been reliable,S125.00 OTD.Winchester 1300 8 shot 12 gauge.Appeared unfired except for residue inside the reciever,$180.00 out the door. The 2 pistols shoot great, the shotgun is still on layaway.

Ruger SS Security Six $175
Gun was in great shape, just needed a little cleaning.

Non-handgun
Mossberg 500 $20
This was someones "truck gun" and was not in great shape. I had to replace most of the wood and metal parts :D as well as a major cleaning job. Actually cost me more in parts and time than it was worth but I learned a lot doing it.
