In addition to getting their Illinois CCL, (Concealed Carry License), a lot of residents are also getting a Florida or Utah permit so they can legally carry out of state. However, that doesn't seem to be necessary. Missouri, will recognize Illinois permits and according to the Illinois State Police website's FAQ on concealed carry there are some other states that will recognize Illinois' permit as well. http://www.semissourian.com/story/1984512.html

ILLINOIS STATE POLICE WEBSITE (FAQ):
Will Illinois Concealed Carry License holders have reciprocity in other states?

This will be determined by the laws of the 49 other states. Illinois Concealed Carry License holders who want to conceal and carry in other states are responsible for researching the state laws to where they are traveling.

But IIRC, Illinois will only recognize Hawaii's because theirs is one of the few that's more restrictive.

If you check reciprocity maps you will see that many gun friendly states do not honor Illinois. Its a bit of a quid qou pro. Yes Missouri, Indiana, Iowa, and Kentucky (Wisconsin does not however) do and if you live in IL right along those borders and don't travel much it might be best just to get an IL permit. Utah and Florida have reciprocity with far more states than IL so if you like to travel and like to pack heat it might be in your best interest to get a permit from one of those states.

Where are you getting that information to my knowledge Illinois recognizes nobody.

note: Got all my info from usacarry.com which as of 3/4/14 had the above information.

Being that it is still unclear about what states will honor the IL license, I keep my Utah and Pennsylvania non-resident permits in my wallet where it will be joined by my Illinois license once received. This way I am covered while in my home state of IL as well as when I travel to Iowa, Wisconsin and through Missouri and Oklahoma on my way to visit my son in Texas.

According to, Illinois Carry, http://illinoiscarry.com 18 states (19 counting Illinois) will honor the Illinois Concealed Carry license:

Alabama
Alaska
Arizona
Arkansas
Idaho
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Kansas
Kentucky
Michigan
Mississippi
Missouri
North Carolina
Oklahoma
South Dakota
Tennessee
Utah
Vermont
