Due to underpenetration i've heard use FMJ but i would think still go with Hollow Points Gold Dot,Hydra,Corbn ect. but i dont know so that is why i ask

Snake shot.

Juuuuust kiddinggggggg. :D

As VHinch suggests, search the forum and the answer is there in spades.

My advice... get the cheapest that feeds properly.

It is hard to go wrong with Ranger T, HST, Gold Dot or Golden Saber. Find what works best in your gun and go with it.

What are you defending yourself from? FMJ is better for defense from animals, 45 ACP is bit under powered for animal defense but FMJ gives you the best chance.

JHP tends to work better for thinner skinned and two legged threats. In 45 ACP FMJ can be effective because of the diameter of the bullet but JHP still offers an advantage.

Hydrashok is the old generation. HST replaces it and is much superior.

Speer GD is excellent too.

Hands down, HST wins. Heavy bullet that expands more than you would think possible.

230 grain hollow point. If it expands it does so amazingly. If not it is a 230 roundnose except usually a little faster.

Personally, I like Golden Saber 230 grain. Tried some out in my Kimber last weekend, didn't get a single failure to feed. They were pretty accurate too. (Haven't tried anything else yet, but I'll probably just stick with those).

You know what, I've never shot anybody with a .45ACP before. Betcha' that nobody here posting "preferences" have either.

The best bullet is the one that you practice regularly with. That's it.

Corbon DPX is my ammo of choice for all my handguns, I've also tried out powerball, but i'm not 100% sold on it.
