One of my reloads shot off of a bench with my Weatherby Vanguard 2 30-06.

Remington 700 SPS Tactical .308 win. Nikon Monarch. 42.7gr IMR4064. 168gr Sierra Matchkings. CCI Benchrest. 4 shots @ 200 yds. 0.919" if I'm doing my math right. 20180829_214023.jpg Not too bad for being bone stock. I wish I would have only fired 3 shots ;)

I don't have a picture of my favorite (so it doesn't count) but a few years ago while sighting in for deer season with relatives I brought my new to me Remington Model 8 to sight in once everyone else had finished, as I already had my Rem 700 sighted in at my place. I uncased it and sat down at the bench and my uncle laughed and said something like "look at Teddy Roosevelt over here" (stupid).

I fired 5 shots @100 yds hoping to get a coffee can size group with some plain old 200gr Remington Core-Lokts. 3 shots were touching and 2 were about an inch or better away from them. I did better than the guys with their scoped rifles. Pretty satisfying.

Walkalong, that's a fine looking Trooper along with a fine looking target. I almost bought a Trooper as a youngster, wishing I had succumbed to the urge.

I had one exactly like it at 15; My Dad gave it to me when he bought his Pythons to replace it and his S&W 49 as duty and off-duty guns, respectively. It was a great shooter, I even hit a flying grouse with it.
Nice groups, Walkalong!

Zastava MP22 .22 WMR rifle with 2-7x32 Nikon scope shooting 30 grain Hornady V-Max at 50 and 100 yards. Rested forend on a rubber block, no rear support other than shoulder and hand. 5 shots per target, with the 5th shot always distancing itself from the others.

These were shot prone, slow fire, no artificial rest, iron sights on NRA SR31 target (simulates 600 yd target for use @100 yds). 10 ring is 1.75" First two targets shot in practice; third shot in NRA approved match.

Guess which shot was #20? Couldn't stand prosperity and got a bit over confident on the last shot.

Shot in NRA approved 100 yd. match (10 shots ea. target).

Prone RF shot with Mod. 70 30-06; 10 shots, 70 seconds from standing in NRA approved match on SR21 NRA target (100 yd. reduced to simulate 300 yds). 10 ring 2.12"

I know how that works. Ha, my attention span gets taxed by the time I hit 10 shots or less. Excellent shooting BTW.

I've always liked this one because it was so absurdly over the top:

The gun was a Miroku 1886 reamed for .45-90 of all things - so with a 250+ thousandths jump to the lands. Crazy it shot that well. Suffice to say I can't always do that with hunting type irons even if I'm very careful. Palma irons are a different game I suppose.

EDC, first rounds downrange @ 7 yards or so. This is the kind of consistency I strive for, and generally get. And it's the reason I've used this as my EDC for the last 16 years.

It worked well enough, but I missed having the magnification to see small targets past 50 yards. That rifle now wears a Weaver 4x28 scout scope. :)

Thanks, that is why I was so happy to find a compact scope short enough to clear the ejection port of my M1 with sufficient eye relief. Red dot was OK, but I really need some magnification.

Never shot a scout rifle, but don't think I would care for the small field of view.

This is the result of sighting in a new scope courtesy of LoonWulf, after my cheapo Tasco scope broke. Fifty feet, just a basic sight in using CCI 36g. HP. IMG_20180805_204522.jpg

The rifle in question:

Edited to add: I forgot to mention that's a five shot group.

How about a little traditional black powder?
.45 cal flintlock, open sights, 60
yards, rested. 10 shots. 15358126138181840744907.jpg
The "P" denotes practice shots.
25th annual Sgt Alvin York Memorial Shoot. Pall Mall, Tennessee
27th place out of 180 entries.

Here is a first place from our local club.
Same rifle, and distance.

And a good 50yd target with shot #5 refusing to cooperate. 15358135657661768682020.jpg
.54 Hawken percussion.

Never fired a flintlock rifle. Shot quite a lot w/Hawken .50 percussion. Was impressed at the (lack of) lag time w/pistol. I think I would be severely distracted by the flash in the pan that close to my face.

Those who have never fired the old front stuffers can't appreciate the accuracy potential they possess..........if only you can see the sights.;)
