I tried to shoot some paraffin bullets last weekend per recipes posted here and it was a lot of fun. I drilled flash holes in a hundred of 357 Magnum cases to 1/8”, made a tiny V-notch with a triangular file on the mouth rim, placed the cases into a pan and added paraffin I bought from Michael’s (at $11 for 25 lbs block or something like that). The V-notch lets the wax flow in as well as identifies the cases lest I ever reload them for real. Then I pushed the wax in with a dowel and pushed the primers in with a piece of wood.
With 3” steel Model 60 the impact was 2 inches below point of aim at 12 feet and 4-5 inches at 21 feet, which leads me to believe that not a bullet drop but the difference in recoil that was the greatest factor.
With 3” model 66 the point of impact was even closer, since the normal recoil is less.
It was fun and a good practice.
