Bohica shipping notice?

I checked with my bank to see if it has cleared his bank yet. They said it is still too soon to tell. I went ahead and ordered my Ligamec 22" upper today. He said it will ship next week so hopefully I'll have it by the end of next week. I'll post some pics once I get it.

Great news hornadylnl,

I am anxious to see what your new upper looks like. The fact that there appears to be no financial difficulties with your refund buoys my hopes that Chris is not in fiscal trouble.

This afternoon I got a PM from him (Chris) stating that my upper should ship next week also.

Pictures, etc. will follow as soon as it arrives.

We have another post from Chris with possible shipping dates:

Thanks again to everybody that's hung on, I am planning on most if not all of the paid order leaving this week. I had about 5 guys jump ship last week. 'nothin I can do about it, Hang in there and they'll all be going, "**** I was this close!!!!"

hornadylnl I hope you aren't one of the people he was referring to, but let us know about you upper.

I will post when I hear something new, a tracking notice, a brown truck delivery, or another form of communication from BOHICA.

Good luck all, the wait may be almost over.

At this point, I don't care if I was. I gave him plenty of oppurtunity to follow through. I wish I'd gone with the ALS from the get go but don't have the luxury of waiting another year now due to the changing political situation. I wasted over a year on nothing.

I have been waiting for a very long time myself. I hope that I will receive mine soon. I have probably 10 months waiting time in myself.

I think I might be experiencing the first delay of my Ligamec. I called to add a buttpad and a bipod to my order yesterday and he said with the possible hurricane coming, it may be the end of the week before he gets it shipped. I'll give him a pass on that one!

I got a message from Chris that indicates that mine will ship this week. I have heard that before, but I have been waiting for so long that another week will not hurt.

Sig,

you got a tracking number yet? I ordered my Ligamec last Friday and got a tracking number last night. I just checked it and it is in Tampa right now. Even through a freaking hurricane, the owner of Ligamec can communicate with me and ship an upper. If you haven't got your money back yet, I would get it and buy a different upper. I'll post pics of my UL50 as soon as I get it.

I checked my bank and the check is still good so I'm sure it will be okay.

Chris told me mine would ship end of this week, well it's Friday. We have been through this before, so it does not surprise me.

hornadylnl please post picts of you new upper when you get it. It looks like the folks you bought yours from have a complete supply of parts listed ready for shipment. Hopefully if Chris gets caught up, he will be able to do the same.

It seems like you are not the only person to get the .50 caliber bug, and change manufacturers. WhisperFan posted for the first time on this board with picts of his new upper, a Ferret. I remember reading a lot of his posts over at Bohica's forum.

Geez!!! Whisperfan's post gave me the .50 bug and I was just perusing the Bohica site and decided to search it on THR. Da** glad I did for that amount of money!!! Twelve hundred bucks was sounding pretty good until I read all this.

blkbrd666 it is good, when he starts shipping them. Not sure, but he probably has close to 1K orders waiting, from what I am able to figure out reading posts (that is over 1 million dollars if anyone is counting). If the production process gets running smoothly, he will have a good thing.

The bad news is that these uppers have been promised for months and months. It is always the same when you talk to him, should ship by the end of the week. Now I have heard this same story multiple times since May. I am continuing to wait because I am hoping that it is not a hoax, and the man will deliver on his promises.

A lot of people have given up and gone to other manufacturers, which I understand.

Keep an eye out, when he starts shipping you ought to jump in. Right now I would advise not to even consider purchasing a BOHICA. My friends who were pumped up about getting to shoot a .50 have wore me out over this. (Like an idiot I repeated what I heard from the company, and told them it will be here next week, too many times for them to believe me anymore.) When mine come in they will all shell out the funds to get one of their own, they are just very skeptical because of my experiences.

There seem to be a number of people who have these and like them. I am beginning to get skeptical about the posters on his web site, the ones that post there now seem to be too friendly to the company line. All the negative postings were removed, as with any discussion about shipping delays.

Tough decision, but I am going to stick to my order.

Yeah, it's looking like the 2K I was seeing at a local gunshop was probably a good deal...may be making a trip there in the next couple of weeks. I think walking out the door with one in my hands might be worth it!!!

Acera,

I too got tired of feeling like a punk telling my friends about the constant delays and excuses as well. It affected my credibility as well. Chris would have had a happy customer with me if he'd have kept a single one of his promises. The only thing he did for me in a timely manner was refund my money.

When a business owner is sitting on at least $400k (there is supposed to be around 40 prepaid orders waiting for shipment) of customer money and logs onto his own forum but can't answer questions or respond to emails, it doesn't look good on his part. Out of the 15 + months that I've dealt with Chris, at least 8 months worth have been broken promises on ship dates.

That is a lot fewer prepaids than I figured. I thought he was well over 40 orders. I thought it was closer to 1000. But that might be more of the hype.

I just don't understand how shipping at the end of the week comments can be made, and then delays totaling over 4 months ensue. I could understand an extra week or so.

No dog in this hunt, but...

I have one of Chris' Mk II guns. I had to wait quite a while, and the only thing I can say is that it is worth it.

Shame of the matter is that

1) Chris makes a very good product
2) It is very reasonably priced
3) He is a perfectionist (which, given that that is one BIG@$$ cartridge, is probably a good thing)
4) His one fault that I can tell is...he is a poor judge of what it takes to be a "production manufacturer" vs. just a hobby-guy, and overpromises / does not manage expectations well

Anyone who has been a "product guy" (I have run product lines for a $40M company and been the owner of a $500M product line in a $37B company) will tell you...you have to lay out a schedule then build in risks, time for rework, etc. You also have to OVERCOMMUNICATE the status of items.

I, however, am very happy with my rifle.

Kris, your response is one of the reasons I am still waiting. My faith has been tested, but i am still in the hunt.

Great news about you satisfaction with you rifle. With a little luck I will be in the same boat soon.

I have just been concerned that the process has produced a product that is not quite right (castings not as strong as needed or something like that) and he is trying to work continued bugs out before he ships. Now if he gets too far in the hole, and can't climb out........well there is another fear I have.

You make a valid point with you statement about being a product guy. Your experience in business shows, and your success can probably be attributed to your understanding of what is needed. I am in construction management, and missing promised deadlines is a big deal, so when it must happen I don't take it lightly. Communication is paramount to keeping a customer happy and in your corner.

One thing I foresee for Chris (and it will not be me, this is as bad as I get) is that when the uppers ship, tongues that have been held will slip loose. The negative minded folks will probably go on a rampage about him. The saving grace will hopefully be the product and a lot of people countering them with that point.

If nothing else, it will continue to be interesting.........

Acera,

I think you are right. I'm sure many people are afraid to say what they really think now for fear of being put on hold even longer. I finally couldn't take it any more and let Chris know it. That got me my money refunded and banned from his forum. I think there will be a lot of posting once people start receiving their uppers and guessing it will go somewhere in the 50% negative, 50% positive.

Or worse, forcibly getting refunded their money. I am sure that many fear that also. I am sure that folks over there monitor these forums and report back.

Just hope I don't get blacklisted:eek:

One more question for you, what handle did you use over there, if you don't mind me asking?

The problem I had was NOT one of being tired of waiting for an upper to be built ..... the problem I had was that I lost faith.

Chris called me in person one Sunday ... he told me that the upper I was going to receive was assembled, tested, cleaned, and boxed up ... in the shop ready to go - a week went by and I still didn 't even have a tracking number.

I called and left a couple messages and emailed too. The next weekend (on a Saturday) he called me again. Chris said that he generated a shipping label with UPS and gave me the tracking number. He said that the box was 'by the door' and going out that Monday. He also said that he had six in total boxed up and gave me the name of one other person that was going to get theirs. (That person is quite active on the other forum)

Monday came and went .... as did Tuesday and then Wednesday ..... The UPS website still didn't show the package was scanned. It only showed that the billing information was received.

I finally lost faith. I lost faith that Chris was being honest with me. I didn't know the reason and I didn't really care. I no longer believed that an upper was boxed up and being shipped. All I was being told was 'it's ready' but when it came time to ship - it didn't get shipped. He wasn't telling me that it needed more work, he wasn't saying that he was waiting on parts, or that he had to have it finished .... this was an upper that was supposedly tested and boxed .... and still not shipped.

Since I bought my upper through a vendor that had bought it from Chris, I just told the vendor to get me the Ferret that you see in my other post. I didn't need to get my money back from Chris.

For what it's worth - I'm not mad or anything. I hope that this post doesn't come across that way - becaues I am truly not angry. And I am not calling him a 'liar' or anything that harsh. Any one of a number of things could have happened to prevent Chris from sending out this upper. He could have realized he needed to perform more work on it. He was struggling with family health issues and that could have flared up again. The main thing was the lack of communicaiton. It caused me to lose faith that I would ever see the upper. I know that's probably not true .... but it was my perception.

And ..... for what it's worth - the person whose upper was ready to go hasn't received theirs either. As a matter of fact, the only MK-III I've seen belongs to Chris and he posted photos of it on his forum. I know a lot of guys that have a lot of time invested in waiting for a BOHICA upper, so much time (in fact) that they will not give up. I just lost faith and got tired of waiting.

Once I posted a few photos of my new .50 .... Chris posted on the public forum and offered to send me his MK-III prototype to test and compare and contrast the two uppers. He posted that he could send it this week really (his emphasis - not mine)

And it should go without saying that he didn't ship it to me.

To beat be banned over there - I sent them a message asking that my account be deleted - after all, no need to belong to a forum that is product specific when you don't own that product.
Anyway - everything I posted is the truth.
