Saw this cartoon today in the paper and shook my head. Democrats do "get it" about guns and carry. But that won't stop them from doing whatever they want in the end despite themselves.
The tied up guy is Ralph Nader. The older guy on the right kidnapped him to prevent him from stealing Kerry's votes and giving Bush the win in November...
It's funny how sometimes someone tries to insult you but you see it as a compliment. In this case, he's disparaging Republicans and people who carry guns but some of us just don't take it that way. God, I love an election year.
It's true--he was trying to insult you, dude. It just doesn't quite work out.
We finally got Mallard Fillmore in the local paper, but we got Boondocks and Bloom County at the same time. Boondocks is often funny. Bloom County used to be, but if the guy wants to write a book that's direct commentary on the Bush administration he should do it and leave the comic in peace--or write a different comic.
I was trying to get www.daybydaycartoon.com included this time, but of course we can't have that. Gotta have room for Cathy, For Better or Worse, and Mary Worth.
The thing about Boondocks is that the writer is SO obliviously racist and left wing, he doesn't realize his strip comes off as an absurd parody of the left's core beliefs.
And I agree that his comment about gun-carrying Republicans is more of a compliment than an insult. (Though GWB and the the GOP haven't exactly delighted me lately.)
"The thing about Boondocks is that the writer is SO obliviously racist and left wing, he doesn't realize his strip comes off as an absurd parody of the left's core beliefs. "
Indeed. I remember one Boondocks Sunday Christmas cartoon where Huey's younger brother
was waiting for Santa with a baseball bat. He was going to beat Santa with the bat
and take all the toys. I guess the "artist" just assumed that all black people would
immediately see the humor in such a situation, and that others wouldn'g get it. Or
something.
Probably when this guy draws, he holds his brush sideways.
So other then Mallard Fillmore, a Canadian comic called Fillibuster and Day by Day are there any comics out there with a more conservative/libertarian bent that are actually funny? (no, the Leftersons is funny about 7% of the time ... otherwise its just dumb).
In particular I'm looking to add something to my daily web comics
