Boy facing felony charges for zombie story.

Geez. When I was in highschool, the group of friends I hung around with was really into the Resident Evil video games. One of them and I ended up writing a short story about a zombie horde at our high school. Glad no one else saw it, now...

And if you had written about rallying your friends to defend the school you too could have been accused of "assembling a gang" for your nefarious plan.

Good, the police are finally cracking down on thought criminals. Its long past time we did something about these little Goldsteins in our schools. The best thing a family member can do is turn in a thought criminal- for their own good. Unless we all love big brother, there can be no harmony in society.
Don't laugh. There are at least two regular contributors to this forum who might just chime in with statements eerily similar to this one.

Sounds pretty appalling on the surface. I'd be curious to know why the grandparents considered it a real threat though....especially looking back at the Columbine event and the lack of parenting involved there.

What if

What if someone took excerpts from some novels like "Carrie", made them look like they came out of a journal and mailed them from somewhere local to this DA...

A little off topic, but still interesting.

LOL speaking of gangs....

My school was having problems with a gang not more than a month ago. So, what did they do? They expelled a kid and banned all bandanas from the junior high of course! I guess they were trying to stop comunication between gang members through certain colors. Lol as if that would really stop it... I suppose they'll bann pants next?! I can understand them trying to prevent violence, but what do they have against bandanas? I can't understand this gang business.... :banghead: how do you handle gangs like that?

That poor kid! What ever happened to freedom of speech??? This country is getting pretty messed up... from my point of view anyway.

Student Charged With Threatening Armed School Takeover
Feb 25, 2005, 10:26 AM
(WINCHESTER, Ky.) -- An 18-year-old high school student was in jail Friday, charged with threatening an armed takeover of his school.

William Poole, a junior at George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester, was arrested Thursday at school on a terroristic threatening charge.

The arrest came after a tip from a family member that Pool was trying to "recruit a gang to take over the school," Detective Berl Perdue said.
I would love to know if they got this from his writing?See below

"He didn't have a gang, but he was attempting to organize one," Perdue said.

Police said writings in which Poole tried to persuade other students to take part in the takeover were found.
"We don't know who's included in this," George Rogers Clark Principal John Atkins said. "That's what we're working on, to see if there were other individuals involved. ... We're not sure that there are."

You know, I need more information on this but at face value I have to ask what the heck are they putting in the water there?

You got to wonder where the ACLU is at a time like this. Probably trying to insure you can suck the brains out of a late term fetus if you so have the desire.

oops that might have been a no no....

You got to wonder where the ACLU is at a time like this. Probably trying to insure you can suck the brains out of a late term fetus if you so have the desire.

When I read the first sentence of your post, I was thinking "Trying to ensure your RIGHT to engage in homosexual sex acts with small children, as long as no one mentions god".

Was wondering if someone in Lexington area would be willing to track this story for us? These things tend to disapear after the initial breaking of the story and this one needs to be tracked.

No, I meant partial birth abortion sorry, I was digressing. The ACLU has a history of ignoring the 2nd Amendment but they are usually rabid in defense of the first.

Wrote a story? ????, we shot a SHORT FILM on it back in HS!

In my senior year, a friend was working on a film project for his English class. I wrote the screenplay about how a series of misunderstandings between cliques at a fictitious high school escalates into a huge brawl. The story even had the warring students buying “illegal†guns. :uhoh: Serious stuff, but the whole thing was played for laughs.

We ran out of time while filming, so my friend just turned in my screenplay. I think he got an A.

Molonlabe, I understood what you meant. What I meant was, I was offering an alternate opinion of where the ACLU is and what they're doing while this crap is going down.

To put a little perspective on all this, ya gotta remember that it's happening in a state where a bill to make Pi equal to three actually passed in the lower house of its legislature. True story; happened in the '50s. I believe.

I have to agree with Jim Diver here: can someone local track this? And, if possible, post the "writings" when/if they're made public?

Side note: if this kid was writing one story about zombies taking over the school, isn't it possible that he had other stories in his journal? Might one of them had something to do with a "gang" taking over the school? Maybe even just notes FOR such a story?

How can writings in a private journal be considered a threat?
Dear diary,

Today flatrock made the list. You know what that means......

How can a private diary be a terroristic threat?
And cosmoline will have to join him now......

Hey, where'd the scrutiny smily go? Somebody's gonna answer for that.......

Additional Information

I have been searching for more information re: and came across this here.

This post seems to indicate a person who might know this individual.

That's my school. Consider this if you're wondering about the boy's creditbility: his initial story was that it was a short story for vocational school (yeah, the place where you learn carpentry and welding, not creative writing). Then it switched to an English assignment. Funny thing is, he doesn't have an English class this semester. He's also been involved in a number of fights and assaults on campus. His sister is even worried because she read what he wrote and she says it's no zombie story. He had the sites of the cameras on campus mapped out and had timed out how quickly the police could arrive on campus. Heretofore, his grandparents have done everything they could to keep him out of jail.

Perhaps this might illuminate the matter more. The student's claim lacks credibility. HIs initial story was that he was writing the assignment for a vocaional school class (yes, vocational school is where you learn carpentry and welding, not creative writing). Then it switched to an English assignment. Oddly enough, he doesn't have an English class this semester. Still think his story is credible?Posted by: Icarus at February 28, 2005 05:54 PM

So until I have more information, I will reserve any further judgement.
