Brand new Glock 43 trouble with reloads

Good news!

The way I set up my full size die was "FULL SIZE" even to the point where it would bottom out and then the lever would almost gently hump over clunk at the end into the bottom out position as the linkage would get upright, if you know what I mean. After seating the bullet, I put a moderate taper crimp on the cases.
The magic load was 4.8 gr Unique.

I went to the local gun shop and bought 2 boxes of Federal 115 gr bullets for target and a 20 ct box of 115 gr Federal Personal Defense.
Then I went to a wedding all afternoon ( which was nice ) and upon coming home I went out back and shot a magazine of the target Federal without a hitch. Man those were loud and had a lot more power than the Clays loads I was using at 2.8.

So I load up another 6 rounds of my 4.8 Unique 124 gr reloads that have been reworked and they shot maybe with slightly less punch but almost exactly like the Federal factory with no problem what-so-ever.
I am going to load up those 250 Nosler JHP 115 gr bullets I'll be pretty much duplicating the Federal Personal Defense bullets in size. I know I can use Unique now and I do swear by Unique. Seems like I know what to do with that powder after using up 8 lbs of it in all my handgun reloads.

VERY HAPPY now and by the way, I do like this pistol.
( I knew I would ! :D )

Yes ... Thanks to all of you. I persevered and it worked out.
I was never worried about it, just another day at the office huh?

Im new to reloading 9mm, and also have a shiny new Glock 43 to run it through. I am using 115gr berrys bullets and CFE-P ... Anyone have any load data experience that they would like to share using this combo. Im currently working the ladder, sterted at 5gr now have 5.2 and 5.4gr to shoot tomarrow. I think im at 1.134

MontanaJack, I used Western Powders' COAL of that bullet. 1.140", took it up to 5.6 gr. of CFE-P. It gave me an average of 1134 fps. I was good with that. :)

Just for the record, Hornady Critical Duty 135g work great for self defense rounds in the 43.

I like 5.1gr CFE-Pistol under a 124gr bullet. It is very accurate with jacketed bullets in Rugers and Glocks.

Sigsmoker,
Unique shoot well for me in 9mm when I used it.
I like powders around that burn speed for 9mm, favorites are WSF and Universal Clays.

Please let us know how the RMRs work out for you.

Did you mean 5.6 or 4.6 typo?
5.6 CFE-P with a 124 looks to be about .5 over Hodgdon's max listed.
125 GR. SIE FMJ Hodgdon CFE Pistol .355" 1.090" 4.6 (start) 1009 26,900 PSI 5.1 (max) 1118 33,000 PSI

No big deal but if it is 5.6 but for loads over listed MAX you should make a note in your post please.

(no offense intended just a FYI)

MontanaJack
Data for 115s is
115 GR. SPR GDHP Hodgdon CFE Pistol .355" 1.125" 5.3 (start) 1059 23,200 PSI 5.9 (max) 1185 31,800 PSI
(from Hodgdon's site)
In my experience CFE-P does seem happier at the Higher end of the charge range, works ok at start charges but is cleaner towards the middle to high side of it's load range.
I have had good results with CFE-P, just wish it was a little less dense. (higher VMD)
No data for 115s but here is some other CFE-P data, 5" Springfield 9mm 1911
The Bayou is a coated lead bullet, the MBC is a coated lead bullet, and the RMRs are plated.
(Thanks to jelldog for a PIF of the Bayous)

Dudedog, actually it was bad memory with my age catching up to me. I was going off memory of what I shot Sunday afternoon and the 5.6gr was BE-86 and the CFE-Pistol was 5.1. I loaded them a couple of weeks ago for another side by side test for accuracy in multiple guns and just got to the range Sunday. The BE-86 is a good powder in the 9mm, but I still prefer CFE-P just a little more. It seems to be a little more accurate for me. I will say the BE-86 does leave the cases a little cleaner in 9mm, but in 38 special, the CFE-P leaves the cases cleaner and is much more accurate. I actually like the CFE-P better in 38 special than 231/HP38.

I went back and corrected my mistake, thanks for keeping me straight.

I agree CFE-P seems to be more accurate for me than BE86.
Favorites are still WSF and Universal for 9mm.

Now if I just had $1 for every memory lapse or typo I could retire:D....
or at least buy a new gun, ok well a new gun collection to be honest!
