British Car Idol Jeremy Clarkson on guns.

Sorry, I watch Top Gear on BBC America every week. It's one of the shows I TiVO and quite frankly, I like Mr. Clarkson and respect his opinions.

After all, when they have Brit cooking to survive on, Lucas electrics, and their road use taxes, what else can they do but complain?

Gawd Save Jeremy Clarkson!

Long live clarkson. Its just like when you watch shows that the history channel show or discovery who owe everything to americans ie weaponology about the sniper that didnt even mention about how the name origionated in india or how the guillie suit got its name. Irwin

Nothing wrong with Jeremy Clarkson or British cooking. Steak and kidney pud, Spotted Dick and custard, Bacon Roly-poly. Roast beef and yorkshire pudding. Not forgetting a nice cup of tea to wash it all down. Anyone for a swift pint down the pub?

i did use Car Idol intentionally, he is atleast that. I am a fan, but that doesn't mean i can't lovingly hate him because we have different opinions.

I don't care what some say. This guy is an anti. That is the only message that I have got from this video. In no way does he say that guns can be used to defend life, only take it away. The fact the he owns firearms only shows his hypocrisy.

I've been enjoying British humor from Python through the Boosh. But Clarkson is just a jerk. Take away his toys and he's got nothing left. Would you watch him if he had no cars and no firearms on his show?

I consider him much worse than the typical British anti because he should know better. He takes advantage of the more relaxed laws of neighboring countries so he can cap off rounds for his own recreation. But he doesn't want the great unwashed to be armed. One law for me, another for thee. It's the same old song.

1. Regardless of his slant, an entertaining listen - thanks for the link.

2. He's nobody but a British mama's boy putz - so I care zero about his opinion. Those silly Brits might, but I doubt more than 3 Americans total would be swayed by his obvious bias.

But I love how he emphasized the point that Samuel Colt was little more than a thief who stole his invention of a revolving pistol from a British gun-maker. True or untrue, though?

Actually the History Channel show on snipers gives big props to the Brits for keeping up the sniper knowledge dropped by the US after WWII. And talked about how the US got folks from the Brit sniper school to come here and work to begin the US sniper school.

For those not familiar with Top Gear and his lordship Jeremy Clarkson let me tell you what that "genius" and his lackies did one time with a American car. They ran a few laps in a Ford GT500 and after the test they put the car on the dyno to see the power. These rocket scientist laughed at the "only 447 rear wheel horsepower" then used a black marker to write "almost" next to GT500.

Now for those who do not know, dynos measure horsepower at the REAR Wheels while that Car makers measure horsepower at the Crank in this case Ford said 500 hp at crank.. You typically lose 15% (20-25% in auto or AWD, 12% LRA) from the crank. SO that 447 was more in line of 540 HP and shows the car was very underrated. I saw this on TV and laughed how even when US did something great they used ignorance to dispel that.

You can find similar claims about most major inventions. There were many efforts to make a working revolving pistol at that time. But the bottom line is he got the patent on it and he made it a commercial success. He was no Browning, though. His genius was not in design but in marketing and production. I think everyone knows that.

unfortunately clarkson actually owned a gt500 that spectacularly broke down on him repeatedly he did like the car and gave it a rave review. Unfortunately the rest of the presenters couldn't help that point out it was in being repaired or being towed away again.
He's actually quite a good presentor catch his show on the St Navasarine raid or brunel

TCB in TN i seen thatone while i was in the states but i was refering the the weaponology episode and was using the history channel as an example of the tv networks who broadcast the shows, i geuss I just hate all these shows that supposubly tell the history of things but attribute everything in them to be invented by the yanks. As if the world didnt function before america was founded. I think alot of you need to lighten up about clarkson you dont seam to understand british humor to well and are getting worked up about nothing he is most probably reading off a script he didnt write the same with hollywood actors. And Skoghund first rounds on you:D

No. He bought a FORD GT not a Ford shelby GT500 which is a mustang. The problem Clarkson had was due to having a aftermarket alarm system required by British law that caused his troubles. It never occured to that rocket scientist that while the other Ford GTs did not have that problem that perhaps it could have been a defective alarm system or improper installation of the alarm system.

He says what he says to be funny, or at least attempt it. I think Clarkson is hilarious and just downloaded the latest episode.

I would judge his actions over his words. He's there to entertain, not proselytize.

nah theres no law needing an alarm system.
insurance quite probably it was funny watching his super car repeatedly being towed though:D

I personally don't care what ANY talking head on TV says, if they support what is right, and good in the world, well good, but if not, well that is on them. BTW in spite of being an angry, arrogant, yank :D I do not thinkthat the world had any trouble operating before we got here. I do think that it has become much more effecient since we did ;)!

BTW I grew up on Brit humor, and have a great appreciation for it, and being an American of primarily, English, Irish, and Scottish heritage I still have a love for the "old coutry" so to speak.

Sorry if this is ignorant but in the 4th video when he is "FISH" ing with the brits..

They are using L85A1's that are obviously training rifles, but how do those work?

I notice they do fire blanks, but it seems like a laser determines if its a hit?

Any one out there know more about this than me?
sorry for the thread drift...
