Hey Marksman- I respect the way you handled this entire situation. Especially your decision not to sue just to sue. I'm glad you're healing up well. Buckmarks still rock.

Richbaker:
Most .22 semi-autos rely on blowback to help extract the empty case, when extracting an unfired round, it is very common for the "extractor" to not extract it. Usually because the bullet has slightly engaged the rifling or because the chamber is tight and fouling makes it tighter....this is prob'ly NOT a faulty extractor, just negligence on the part of the shooter! It is NOT the fault of the pistol OR the manufacturer...not worth suing over and it should be a loser, in any case!

Dude... what are you talking about??? Why insult the guy? Did you even read the thread?

Looks like my insurance company intends to drag Browing into this. They sent me a letter that states that I have tell them in writing exactly what happened and they will determine if a third party (ie:Browning or Federal) is at fault. A failure by me to do this means that they will not pay my medical bills. I am sure this is just standard protocol, but it sounds like Tricare wants someone else to take the blame and foot the bill.

This is standard insurance company subrogation stuff. Based on a cursory reading of this thread, it does not appear to me that the dollar-value of a subrogation claim would even remotely warrant the cost of your insurance company initiating such a claim. Not that you have any say in whether your insurance company initiates such claim of course. Just fill out your form, and the insurance company can do with it what they will - which is probably exactly nothing.
