Anyone have any idea why it takes 7-14 days (according to their web site) for Bud's to ship a gun?

Ordered an LCP and some accessories on 1/5. The accessories (extra mag, mag extensions and a DeSantis Nemesis holster) came in 4 days.

I'm still waiting for them to process the LCP.

This, I had a gun shop tell me they do FFL transfers for 25 bucks, but if it came from Bud's it's 75 bucks because they order from the same distributor as the shop.

I went the CC route when I ordered it, and used one of their preferred FFL's in Orlando for the transfer. Oh well, just a little anxious I guess.

Actually Bud's did stop drop-shipping a while back so they don't have that excuse. More likely they're just backlogged with orders.

That said, if you're going to shop for the lowest price, in many cases that means you'll get the lowest level of service - which as the OP noted, means you wait for delivery. If you absolutely can't wait, you pay more to a seller who can get it into your hands faster (that goes for more than guns).

I give my small-time FFL the chance to meet or beat the price on something I want. I'll look at Bud's and a few other places, let him know what I am looking for, and ask him for his best price. If he can beat it, I let him order it in. If he can't, I order it in and transfer it through him. SO far, he has beaten every price I have found - and his service is faster as he orders from his distributor several times per week.

I've purchased 6 guns from Buds,,,

I've purchased 6 guns from Buds,,,
I've never had to wait more than 5 business days,,,
In several cases I only experienced a wait time of four days.

One pistol I ordered on Monday morning,,,
It hit my LGS that Wednesday.

I think they list a wait of up to 14 days,,,
Just to cover themselves if it ever does take that long.

I guess I don't understand the basis for the question... They clearly state their wait times. If you don't want to wait that long, you can always shop elsewhere. So, does it matter why their shipping may be slower than you would like it to be? Would you change your shopping habits if you knew the reason?

I have ordered about 20 firearms from them since 2008. They used to ship them out very quickly......as in a day or two. now it seems like 6-7 days is the average.

And if you really want to slow things down, send them a check or E-check. You are now looking at close to 2 weeks.

I have 2 coming from them right now. Sent in a trade on Monday, they got it on Tuesday and changed the status to processing - they say the firearms will ship in 3-7 days. Some extra magazines that are part of the deal are scheduled to be delivered Thursday from Texas.

I have been using my LGS more the past couple of years, but there are times when Bud's is unbeatable, and it's not even close. The trade off is the wait.

YMMV

Sorry if i hijack the thread, but have you tired galleryofguns? They have great deals on the guns plus lifetime warranty.

I agree what others have said, buds only mention the 10 plus business day just to protect themselves from unexpected delays. I have bought about 10 guns from them have waitd n the average 2-3 days for it. I have not purchased form them for the past 2 years since they stopped the 6-12 month 0% payment.

Once, on an oddball left handed rifle they were clearing out. Other than that one time I haven't found their price quotes for dealers within 50 miles of me to be better than Buds (which is less than 50 miles from me) or better than the tagged prices of several LGS.

This.
"Gallery of Guns" is ecommerce/internet ordering for Davidson's......hands down the most expensive distributor that I've ever used. There's a reason you get a "Lifetime Warranty"............it's built into the price of the gun..:barf:

However, with the quality of the guns being produced these days, maybe that isn't such a bad idea after all

I think Bud's will sell you a lifetime warranty on firearms you purchase from them. I think it's around $25 or $30......not positive on the price though.

It may be backlog, but then again they could be playing the float. They get to use your money for one to two weeks without interest. That is a lot of working capital. A lot of business is timing, and they may be using timing to be more profitable. Just a thought.

I've ordered several guns from 'em over the last year, it never took more than a day or two to ship.

They take forever to process checks/e-payments. I just got my 8th gun from them today and like most it was about 10-12 days from paying to having the gun. Faster would be nice but for the price I can't complain much.

Frankly, given their disclosure on shipping times, I don't see how one could complain AT ALL. If they say two weeks, and you get your gun in ten days, how can you fault anyone in any way?

'cause if you go with the rock bottom price source, you should expect the "rock bottom price" level of service. There are reasons they are cheaper than anybody else ... and you are learning one of them now.

Yeah, it took a while for a gun to arrive. On the other hand, they were less expensive than everyone else would have been, had they had the gun in stock, which nobody else did.

I ordered a shotgun during the madness of 2013 with a thumbhole stock since that was on the proposed list to ban. it took almost a month to receive. it all depends on volume at the time.

I have bought several ways if you want fast cc or money order not a big hurry personnel check .

I'm not Buds so I don't know exactly why but keep in mind that you aren't ordering a pizza for delivery.

While not the cheapest, I have found better deals than just walking into a LGS a couple of times.

Also, the local shop that you designate for gungenie to ship to does make a profit on the sale.

IMO, that's good!

I've had a shop that didn't want to do Buds transfers but was listed on gungenie. I asked why.

He explained he didn't want to be reduced to just a paper push'n shop. Theres no value in that over a kitchen FFL if all he does is transfers.

A LGS cant keep everything in stock on the chance it might sell eventually and using gungenie is a good way to get a gun that you cant find locally.

I want the brick and mortar shops to stay in business.
