I found this and judging from the source I would take it with a pound of salt. I'm wondering if anyone has any other cites to support this?
Don't shoot the messenger on this one I'm just relaying the article.

Bush on the Constitution: 'It's just a goddamned piece of paper'

Last month, Republican Congressional leaders filed into the Oval Office to meet with President George W. Bush and talk about renewing the controversial USA Patriot Act.

Several provisions of the act, passed in the shell shocked period immediately following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, caused enough anger that liberal groups like the American Civil Liberties Union had joined forces with prominent conservatives like Phyllis Schlafly and Bob Barr to oppose renewal.

GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.

“I don’t give a goddamn,” Bush retorted. “I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.”

“Mr. President,” one aide in the meeting said. “There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.”

“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”

I’ve talked to three people present for the meeting that day and they all confirm that the President of the United States called the Constitution “a goddamned piece of paper.”

And, to the Bush Administration, the Constitution of the United States is little more than toilet paper stained from all the ???? that this group of power-mad despots have dumped on the freedoms that “goddamned piece of paper” used to guarantee.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, while still White House counsel, wrote that the “Constitution is an outdated document.”

Put aside, for a moment, political affiliation or personal beliefs. It doesn’t matter if you are a Democrat, Republican or Independent. It doesn’t matter if you support the invasion or Iraq or not. Despite our differences, the Constitution has stood for two centuries as the defining document of our government, the final source to determine – in the end – if something is legal or right.

Every federal official – including the President – who takes an oath of office swears to “uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia says he cringes when someone calls the Constitution a “living document.”

“"Oh, how I hate the phrase we have—a 'living document,’” Scalia says. “We now have a Constitution that means whatever we want it to mean. The Constitution is not a living organism, for Pete's sake.”

As a judge, Scalia says, “I don't have to prove that the Constitution is perfect; I just have to prove that it's better than anything else.”

President Bush has proposed seven amendments to the Constitution over the last five years, including a controversial amendment to define marriage as a “union between a man and woman.” Members of Congress have proposed some 11,000 amendments over the last decade, ranging from repeal of the right to bear arms to a Constitutional ban on abortion.

Scalia says the danger of tinkering with the Constitution comes from a loss of rights.

“We can take away rights just as we can grant new ones,” Scalia warns. “Don't think that it's a one-way street.”

And don’t buy the White House hype that the USA Patriot Act is a necessary tool to fight terrorism. It is a dangerous law that infringes on the rights of every American citizen and, as one brave aide told President Bush, something that undermines the Constitution of the United States.

But why should Bush care? After all, the Constitution is just “a goddamned piece of paper.”

I believe I read a similar article when Clinton was president bya Conservative author. Its abvious this guy does not like the Bush adminstration or Republicans. I would call this faulty journalism. IE using one own hatered to misinform the masses. Power to the People.

And ...

I understand that somebody once saw his true alien form under that synthetic skin so it doesn't suprise me that he said that. Now pardon me while I buy more tinfoil for my hat.;)

And that email is a completely unverified, untrustworthy, and deeply biased piece of AGITPROP. I'm surprised anyone with more than two synapses to rub together would fall for it. The author is a mentally disturbed man with a long history of making garbage up about the President and passing it off as "journalism." He's made previous claims that Bush is going on benders, that Bush is a "liar and traitor," that Bush is a "genuinely evil man," and FREELY INVENTS QUOTES WHICH HE THEN ATTRIBUTES TO THE PRESIDENT VIA SOURCES HE *NEVER* NAMES.

I want to take the high road here, but anyone stupid enough to fall for this needs to be slapped about the head with a golf club.

President George Bush Drunk Again, Falling Apart
by DOUG THOMPSON
According to the National Enquirer, President George W. Bush, an alcoholic, is drinking again.
...

"Bush screamed at the G.O.P. strategist, "You can leave and you can take the rest of these lily-livered mother????ers with you!"

A growing number of Republican leaders, party strategists and political professional now privately tell President George W. Bush that his presidency "is effectively over" unless he fires embattled White House advisor Karl Rove, apologizes to the American people for misleading the country into war and revamps his administration from top to bottom.

....

Can we please NOT post this idiot's LIES on here anymore? There are plenty of things to gripe about with any administration without resorting to lying agitprop.

One side of me says the story is inconsistent with his supreme court pledges.

The other side of me says, "Pretty much consistent with his behavior."

When faced with having to sign Campaign Finance Control someone asked him if he would sign an unconstitutional law. His comment was reported to be "how will I know if its unconstitutional?"

Fact of the matter is you can't predict what this dood thinks. Better rely on his actions. . . .which are inconsistent also.

The "journalist" writing this is a nutbag. Just look at his previous pieces.

Yeah the journalist is a POS. So is the website.

I just wanted to know if the quote was posted by any credible source.

Thanks.

If you wanted to know if the quote was by any credible soure, why didn't you Google it, Snopes it, etc.?

The truly scary part of this is that we are asking for proof one way or the other, rather than saying "this isn't possible; he's not that kind of guy."

Because, as much as we'd all like to believe otherwise, he's pretty well shown himself to be that kind of guy.

More misdirected Bush-bashing. There are plenty of reasons to dislike Bush, but claiming he has trashed the Constitution is nothing more than tired rhetoric.

Frankly, at this point, its boring.

I did but I guess the article is too new.

I've come to rely on the resourcefulness for THR members. They are better than 10 googles.

Why the need for verbal verification from the proverbial horse's mouth.
After all, actions speak much louder than words.

I agree.

McCain Feingold, patriot act, TSA, war on terror etc... have given me pause
and made me wonder if our administration believes in the Constitution at all.

I just wanted to know if our commander in chief really said "eff the constitution"

No, there is no confirmation and the source is about as reliable as the love child of Michael Moore and Tom Diaz. That's what everyone is trying to tell you.

Yes...do take it...with a grain of salt... Doug Thompson is a known liar...

Yes, everyone come together now and let's all hold hands and sing together in praise for more "sneaks-and-peeks" on US citizens. It's all keeping us safe from terrorism!

If you found an article that was incredibly complimentary of Bush, I think it would draw similar vitriol. Any mention of the man is just an excuse for bashing. This one was easy to dismiss based upon the name of the website (capitalhillblue). If I wanted to read DU stuff, I would go there. Spare me please.

So have you bothered to do a search yourself on whether the statement is true or not? My guess is that you have not given you haven't posted the results of your search. What is keeping you from doing this?

I answered that question in post #16

Yes I did a search. Usenet and Google Found nothing other than the original article.

I asked a question of THR members whether anyone else could confirm what Bush supposedly said.

As I suspected the columnist is a liar.

Do you know something that I don't?

Just curous, what do you think is the reason that there have been no terrorist attacks in the U.S. since 9/11? You think the Islamofacists have just given up? Or maybe there afraid of Americans with CHL's? Yeah, that must be it.
