When I get my bonus, and our tax refund, my wife and I each take 25% for our individual hobby accounts (personal money that can be spent on whatever we want without questions asked - for me, guns/ammo/hunting equipment, for her usually shoes and clothes). 50% goes into our savings.
This division of extra money differs from my overtime money, which is split 5% to each of us for hobby and 90% to savings. We also each get $75 a month even when there isn't overtime.
In an average year, we each get around $3,500 of fun money. This doesn't go as far as I wish it did when it comes to guns, ammo, and hunting gear!! Although, we save many tens of thousands of dollars for stuff like, houses and education, and with a strict budget like we follow, there is never any guilt associated with an expenditure. We make sure to build in money for dates and hosting events.
