buying bulk ammo through the mail?

I've never bought any ammo from them, but all the fishing related stuff I ever ordered from Cabela's was no problem. I doubt ammo would be any different.

I have ordered ammo from other companies, mostly 9x18 Mak, and never had a problem with it. 9x18 is hard to find locally, and EXPENSIVE when you can find it. Local shop almost $30.00 a box. :what: I just had 500 rounds delivered from J&G for about $12.00 a box, shipping included. Not the same brand, but I'm not that pickey.

I haven't done it yet but two questions I would ask. First..is it in stock? Second. when should I recieve it? I have had several situations where you place the order and go to check out then find out it is not in stock or on back order. Just my .02

I made my first online ammo purchase recently for some 7.62x39 from Cabela's.
It was a deal for 500 rounds, considering no one locally had any.

I'll be ordering again as the transaction was smooth as glass...
Unless my gun guy gets more in and doesn't mark it up
to be about what I can pay for it online and shop in my PJ's.

I've had good luck with AIMSurplus and lately Wideners. Wideners has some 223 and 7.62X39 in stock.

I've bought bulk ammo from Sportsmans Guide and Cheaper Than Dirt and had nothing but good experiences.

But last week I was at the local Wal Mart. I picked up a 100 round box of Remington 45 Auto 230 grain JHP L45AP7B and a box of 25 2 3/4" 1 1/4 oz. #5 Long Range Express 12 gauge shells and paid LESS that the same would have cost via on-line and that's including the discount I get for being a buyers club member! Then after figuring in the shipping, heck I'll be buying from Wal Mart IF they have what I want.
