How does one apply for a C&R license?

Also, how does it work in a state like NJ where every handgun needs an individual permit. Does a C&R need to still apply for pistol permits for C&R pistols?

Any C&R in NJ?

DK, check out this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Firearms_License scroll down about a third of the way and it will tell you about the C&R thing, REMEMBER it only applies to guns that are 50+ years old... more info from BATF wouldn't hurt.

There are a lot of C&R firearms that are less than 50 years old. That is only one of three criteria. Generally, a firearm only has to meet one to be C&R.

State and local laws can make life difficult

Can't speak to NJ, but in California where I am originally from, EVERY handgun xfer must go through a dealer, so my C&R was basically worthless for shopping gunbroker, etc.

That's one reason why I moved to Arizona.

EOD you are right, though I personally play it safe by doing the 50 year, especially after a buddy of mine bought a supposed war era M1 and it turned out to be a tad more modern LOL
