Nobody sell'n guns in CA.

If you look at the various gun board that have for sale sections you will notice that almost nobody from CA is listing guns for sale.

Now CA residents buy almost as many guns as the rest of America put to gether. Some if not most of the highest volume gun sellers in America sell in CA.

Yet just take a look at this forum's For sale section! The three people that live in Idaho sell more guns than people in CA.

Could it be that CA gun owners are just smarter?
 
why on earth would anybody want to sell their guns anyway? the more guns i can get, the happier i become. having to sell a gun is always a bad day in my eyes

Maybe...but certainly more oppressed. If I had the $...I could go shopping tomorrow and come home with nearly anything my heart desires...and a few guns as well. :D
 
Possible reasons:

-If it's cool, it's banned (or will be soon) so there's a 'buy it while you still can' mentality here.

-If it's not a current production handgun that has been submitted to the CA DOJ for "safety testing" (extortion fees), you cannot bring one in from out of state - ever. What's here is here, and there's a ton of competition on the used handgun market.

-Desire to see said non-importable handguns kept 'in-state', hence sold on calguns.net rather than to a potential out of state buyer on gunbroker, THR, TFL, etc.

-Join calguns.net.

Granted, #4 is a suggestion ;) but I feel those are the main reasons we ain't sellin'.
 
I don't sell any guns either, but I buy way better guns than I could when I was in CA. Now I'm waiting on a FA Uzi...:D
 
Possible reasons:

1. Interstate/intrastate shipping regulations from CA, and common carriers.
2. People most likely do not want the hasstle of selling firearms over the internet and stick to private party transfer.
3. How many gunboards do you visit? Do you actually take count of CA sellers throughout the net?
4. Guns may be driven across state lines to other states.

i never should of sold my bushmaster i can probably never have one in ca again, so i just buy buy buy because sooner or later i wont be able to get it here. there are so many different manufactures and models we cant get here its sad.
 
I'm glad I never sold my bushmaster... it's a lesson I'll never forget. I'm going to have not one but 2 50's before Jan 1st... I'll have to get the money somewhere, even if it's a loan.

Not saying you arn't right, I would just like to see the numbers out of personal interest.
 
i would like to see those statistics also especially since this is such a liberal state and you can only get one handgun a month here.

i know cant afford one every 6 months let alone every month, but i try.
 
I know that Serbu says the day after the .50 ban was signed he sold more 50s in a day to CA residents than he usually sells nationwide in a month.

I too would be interested in seeing the exact figures. Does anyone know where they are available? Or IF they are?

We keep them because the way CA gun grabbers are trying to take what we have away from us.

So you keep them instead of parting with them....just in case, right?
 
the next wave..??

a recent killing of a 14 yr old by a "gang" has the mayor of LA and the police chief and all the local politicians wringing their hand and making promises to end the violence. The boy was reported being shot 19 times.

You would think it was an election year or something.

You could read their minds...they wanted to say..BAN HANDGUNS!!!!

and one day they will.

The concerned politicians did mention that this year there have been over 190 Shootings in the area that the boy was killed. This should bring my 2004 signature stats to a record high for los angeles. Hopefully we will once again be the homicide capital.

Well, I'm poor. It takes me a long time to save up for a gun. When I do get it I make it "battle-ready", 8-10 spare magazines, optics, mounts, etc. By the time I'm done I've sank almost as much into the rifle as it's worth (if not more). Selling it means taking a big loss, so it's financially feasible to just hang on to it.

There's also a feeling here that what's available today may not be available tomorrow. People hang on to their stuff, just in case.
 
All the reason I can think of have already been stated by my fellow Cali members, I think- and yeah, the used gun market is really hot now which kinda sucks if you collect older guns (you wouldn't believe what the asking price is for nice Smith revolvers...*bleah*) due to that frickin' drop test regulation.

I long ago decided that I was not going to sell ANYTHING out of my collection, unless I was in dire financial straits. Fingers crossed we'll avoid that

And this is exactly why- the future is un-written; sure I'll never know if some grandkid or even great-grandkid of mine will ever need to use that S&W M64 I picked up back in 2003, to defend his or her life (against the Mutant Ninja Bears most probably... but I digress) but the point is at least I'll have weapons available to them. And that's why I keep buying and keeping 'em.
 
Every gun freak here in Kali that I know of (myself included) owns at least 20 guns (rifles/pistols).

Couple of ARs, Couple of Mak90s, a 50 or so.

It sucks to be someone here just starting gun collecting. But us "old timers" have a lot of cool stuff grandfathered in.

Because I can't buy more AR's or Galils, I usually buy the high end assesories for everything I have.
 
Considering that today Kali residents have restrictions on buying, how can you say they buy more guns then any other state? There are guns the rest of the nation buys that isn't allowed in that state.
Looking at the same numbers another way could show that not that many guns are actually in Kali according to the resale market compared to the rest of the nation.
 
True, but we usually buy multiples of guns that are allowed in Kali. Also, I remember seeing somewhere that Kali residents buy the most handguns of all the states. I personally know a friend that has practically every glock model ever produced (except a few he hates). There aren't very many restrictions on handguns other than the drop test.

Just think of it this way, why would a gun company submit to blackmail from the state and pay $1000 (every couple of years I think) per model type of a gun just to be able to sell it in Kali........ Because there is a huge market for it, and they know they will recoup their loss.

Either way, doesn't really matter, the more guns out there the more people will be resistant to let the state come in and take them away. And no state in their right fiscal mind will pay money to get all these hundreds of millions of dollars to to buy back the people's property as they can't unduely seize people's property without fairly compensating them (at least on a mass scale)

We can only buy one handgun a month, but there are no purchase restrictions on rifles and PPTs.
