Does anyone have any experience with them? They fancy themselves the ultra-premium manufacturer of 1911 pistols. Their prices reflect that.
Can't imagine the average Joe buying something so expensive.

I've only looked at a handful of them in the case at a local range. They really are a sight to behold just for the finish alone.

I wonder if Cabot would refinish one of my Pythons?

I don't believe Average Joe is their target audience. Especially considering Joe Montenga from CBS's Criminal Minds owns one.

I happen to have been lucky enough to be contacted by the president of the company and contracted to make a few hundred sets of grips for their guns. I have a good professional relationship with their president and chief engineer.

Probably not considering the bearish trends of Boeing stock which had been affected by the problems associated with 787 Dreamliners. But we'll just have to see how the market plays out and whether Boeing can recover and whether investors can be calmed.

While you have a biased working relationship with them...The below pic of a 6k + gun on their website... Like I said machinist vs. gunsmith.. I know which one I want.

Look at the fellas in their ads. They want to sell expensive, upscale looking 1911s to folks to whom the ads appeal.

The folks who spend 5 grand on a watch may also want a 5 grand 1911 and for the same reasons. At a certain point the extra money is not buying increased performance, it's buying the perception of increased performance and of a certain lifestyle. I think that's the case here.

Gun folks are a tough crowd. Hi-Points are cheap junk and cabots are overrated.

No one here seems to actually have shot one. I will not comment on their quality or performance, I will say I personally do not like the looks of the strange designed serrations on most of the ones picked, but they do look like they have nice finishes

And to some people 5 grand is chump change and if the gun tickles their fancy they don't hesitate a moment.

I do wonder about this gun's performance, is it very tightly fittted and perhaps ammo sensitive or is it designed to work as good as it looks?

5 grand won't even cover a full month of my mother's $8k/month nursing home bill. She's been there since 2/07 if you'd like to contemplate saving your $5k and how far it will take you.
