Can I purchase a longgun in NYS without a drivers license?

My only form of photo ID is a NYS learning permit.

I can't seem to find an answer to this question.

Short answer is yes. The only reason I know this for sure is because I have several Amish friends who used to live in New York and hunt there. No driver's licenses. I'm not sure if they even have photo ID's. Not sure what the process is though. Best option is to move to a free state.

The federal requirement is for a government-issued photo ID. It doesn't have to be a driver's license.
