Sorry if I came across as if I was judging your choice of when/where to carry, believe me, I wasn't. I feel pretty strongly about my responsibility(not suggesting you don't, of course) and, after reading it again, I can see how it might appear judgemental..
My sincerest apology.
I'll answer your questions anyway, they are good questions.
How did you get into the courthouse to get and then renew your CCW? Did you figure some way around the metal detectors, or did you just decide not to bother following the law?
We renew our CCW at the local sheriff's dept. that is a stand-alone building a few miles from the courthouse. Our sheriff is very, very liberal with firearm permits(the most liberal in the state) and he pretty much expects that CCW holders are carrying.
Do you send your wife to the school to talk to the kids' teachers during conference time, or do you not have kids, or what?
My oldest just moved to Oregon and my youngest is in a small private school that is not anti-firearm, we usually visit together.
Have you never visited a beach or a public swimming pool in all those years, or do you carry in your swimsuit?
I hate the beach( actually, I hate crowds), but I love to swim. If I want to swim we'll go into the backyard or take the boat out to go wakeboarding.
Crazy as it sounds, there aren't any places I go that don't allow firearms.
I'm self employed(my boss is kind of a judgemental jerk that frequently has a problem expressing himself
) and I help a buddy out in the mornings at his firearm store. Other than that, I'm pretty much a homebody. Again, I don't much care for crowds.
