When I can hide it( winter), SIG GSR 45 ACP

And when I can't, Walther PPS 9mm, thin as can be

Of course others do get carried from time to time, if I’m heading into a tough part of town its the XDM9, I like having 20 rounds before I have to change mags, the 3" Para LDA 45 ACP gets a good amount of carry time as well

My next EDC will be a SIG 1911 C3 4" 45ACP

I alternate among three, depending upon the occasion:

(1.) Evening and night, a S&W Model 642 Airweight 5-shot .38-Spl+P revolver with Crimson Trace lasergrips. The lasergrips are key...where the red dot is is where the bullet will hit...no matter about where you are holding the gun or sights. But the laser is worthless in daylight.

(2.) Russian Makarov, 9-mm Mak with Gold Dot or XTP JHP ammo, 10-shot cap mag and adjustable sights.

(3) Herter's Double Derringer in .357 Mag...very small and concealable, therefore the quickest to hand when needed.

My advice: Don't choose a CC gun based on large mag capacity...go for small size, light weight, easy concealability. These guns are used for self-defense, and you are likely to fire only one or two rounds within ten feet against an assailant who will quickly depart once he realizes you are armed. In the three times my guns have saved me from physical assaults, once the bad guys (four young toughs in one case) realized I was armed, they immediately backed away and departed VERY rapidly. I never had to fire a shot.

I have a Glock 23 and a 27, usually carry the 23 IWB, sometimes I carry my CZ PCR instead. I also have a Taurus PT-22 that is pretty close to completely reliable (one or two primers didn't ignite, think it was bulk Remington both times) and is easy to pocket, so I usually have that with me as well. Sometimes if I am wearing very specific clothing I can also carry my 27 in a pocket holster, and in warm weather or when I absolutely cannot print even the slightest bit I will wear the 27 instead of the 23 or PCR.

i want to know in all honesty what people themselves trust in firearms for self defense. what do people trust. whats the gun with all the hype right now?

For a lot of us, that's two different things. The latest and greatest on the cover of the gun rags is not necessarily the go-to gun that rides in a lot of holsters for people who have a choice. For me, I've gotten to the point where I feel like any handgun will do. Make it from a reputable manufacturer, 9mm or above, ring it out for 500 rounds with the ammo intended to be carried to ensure reliability, and good to go.

Specific models:
J-Frame .357 Magnum
HK P2000
Beretta 92

P3AT, 24/7. Unless, of course, I feel quirky, then maybe it'll be an M1917, a MKIII Webley, a tiny, ancient Iver Johnson .32 topbreak, etc, etc, etc. Mostly, however, it's the Kel-Tec.

Oh yeah: In jacket weather, it's a PA-63 or a Makarov.

It's summer, so I carry a S&W 642 and/or a Kel Tec P32. In the winter, I'll also carry my Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II, my S&W 625JM, or even my Taurus Judge.

I used to carry a SIG P226 as a duty weapon. Bit big for comfy concealed carry, but utterly reliable.

IMHO Sig family are probably one of the best carry guns due to decocked condition being inherantly safe (Heavy pull). Id say a Glock would be similar, however, the lightish trigger is a bit more of a concern carrying with one in the breach. Properly carried no problem; in a pocket/purse with keys and other clutter not so good. I know you can get a heavier trigger...but Im not sure Id want that for every shot.

Both my Sig and my current Glock 17 have been completely reliable, which is why I personally don't feel compelled with the revolver reliabilty argument over high cap mags.

Id say maybe Sig P228 or Glock 19 (or different caliber variants of) are ok compromise on size/performance.

Walther PPK

Flat, light, reliable and until recently, easy to find ammo for! Course now, I have trouble finding anything to feed it. Luckily, I had a couple boxes in reserve.

Springfield TRP 1911 when I can, XD40 subcompact when I can't hide the 1911. SW442 in a pocket holster almost all the time (as a backup or when the weather is too warm for a concealing garment).

just got a holster for my recently-acquired Glock 35. might replace my 1911 with that, but probably not. my .45 is kind of a trusted friend at this point.

I usually carry my Steyr S9 unless wardrobe dictates otherwise. It has a custom grip modification, 12rd magazine and trijicon sights.

In shorts and a T-shirt I go for the Radom P64. It's a no-nonsense 9mm mak with iron sights and an 8rd capacity.

I will say this only once,
You can hold this to be true,
I may tell you what I've done,
I won't tell you what I do.

I have, in the past, carried: Toks, Glocks, AMTs, LadySmiths, Navy Arms, even RGs.

What I carry now is nobody's business.

One of three

The largest thing I can fit in my pocket discretely. That depends on the pockets, season, event, etc.

Usually one of three, sometimes revolver, other times SA.

Now that I live in an open carry state, I am re-evaluating my edc.

Beretta Mini Cougar 8000D - on & off duty

Custom 9mm S&W 360 - BUG & off duty

14 Rounds of 45 Auto.

I kinda prefer a revolver that can't jam. My 357 is a little big to carry. We will see.

I really haven't decided since I haven't been able to carry either yet ! :D
