hey guys, i was just posting on another thread and it reminded me to ask this question.

my wedding is coming up (oct 16th ) and me and my 5 groomsmen are going to carry durring the whole thing, openly at that! i tryed to get the ol'lady to carry but she says her lcp dosent match her dress. i swear i am not making this up. question is have any of you guys carryed during a wedding???

thanks
just trying to start a converstion

yes i have and do at any and all that i go too. however i do not carry openly. My wife's family who are all pretty much anti gun were giving me crap about carrying, so not only did i carry, i had my ar in a guitar case. That coupled with the fact that so many from my family were there it was a pretty darn secure wedding.

when asked why i brought guns to a wedding, i said " i would hate for someone to have a reason for these two not to wed!"

" i would hate for someone to have a reason for these two not to wed!"
That's great!

I fully intend to carry as the best man in my brother's upcoming wedding, the only question I have left to answer is which gun is most fitting for the occasion?

im very pleased to see im not alone

2nd: 92fs
3rd: (brother) fn 5.7
4th: berreta px4 compact 9mm

Ancient custom

I'm told that in rougher times, such as in feudal Scotland, the main function of groomsmen was to protect the bride from attacks by feuding clans. Thus, groomsmen in Scottish weddings carry a ceremonial dagger called a skindoon.

I'm not Scottish, but nevertheless kept my .380 Kel Tec in my suit pocket at my own wedding. There was plenty of reason for caution-- I was doing a lot of traveling that day with a gorgeous woman sporting tons of jewelry. :)

My one concern would be, are you going to be drinking there? Most states don't allow carrying and drinking.
i personally do not drink at all, and drinking would never be allowed at my wedding and or the church that i had it at. but that is a very valid point, guns and booze do not and should not be mixed.

I carried during my wedding. This was way back in 1978. I had my CCW and my pistol was a stainless Bauer .25. Usually I carried my S&W M-60 in a shoulder holster however a little awkward for that.

If I value the people there enough to go to their wedding (and I don't go to that sort of social event if I don't), I value providing a degree of protection to the folks in attendance as well as myself if it comes to that.

I'm still waiting on the great state of NY to process my paperwork to carry so I cant say I've carried at a wedding but if I were to it would be concealed not open.

Just my $0.02

I don't agree. Concealed, yes. Open? Have you considered what the parents of the bride think about it? Or all of their guests?
I'm hoping that this is a once in a lifetime wedding for both of you, but somehow I have to wonder how the rest of the wedding party and guests are going to remember it, even to the point of not wanting to be photographed with an openly armed groom and groomsmen. Its sorta a big day for the Mother of the Bride too.
But maybe you've got all of that covered already?
Just my .02 or less. And congratulations! And I'm thinking that since you both do carry, maybe a Honeymoon at Gunsite? :D

Rozzi,

I think it's great that you're carrying at your wedding but do not carry your Kimber 1911 like that!

It's cocked & locked but yours is cocked & unlocked. I'd hate to see your wedding day (and perhaps the honeymoon) ruined by an ND! :what:

During my wedding I carried my KelTec, a Christmas present from my wife, in my suit pocket.

My best man was carrying an FN P45 on his belt, and I believe my father was carrying his Sig Sauer IWB.

I gifted all my men matching 'birds eye maple' swing-guard knives.

If you and your groomsmen are going to open carry as part of your wardrobe may I suggest a garter holster for the bride if she's wanting to incorporate her handgun into her wardrobe.

Perhaps shotguns for the bride's mother and father?;)

Where are you going to have the wedding?

Good point about this being a once in a lifetime event and being sure that the families are into the idea.

When I got married I gave the best man a Beretta M92, and the two groomsmen a Ruger Standard Model 22 and a Savage M99 respectively as gifts for participating. However, the notion of actually carrying a gun in church during the ceremony strikes me as patently ridiculous.

So does being armed in the shower.

Or while attending a child's birthday party.

Or while having sex.

Hope nothing bad happens while you do any of those things. Hard to carry during sex...I don't think I'll try that one. Shower, well, we covered that several threads ago. :D
When I got married I had a KelTec P11 in my cummerbund, my best man had a Smith 357 under his jacket, (don't remember the model), and a friend in the congregation had a Glock 22. That's all I knew about, though. I didn't give my best man ahandgun, too poor for that, but he did get a claymore, being Scottish.
I found this on the skean dhu Scottish formal dagger. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sgian_dubh

LOL Klusterbuck, that makes two of us!

And no more NDs now that I'm a married man.

I really wanted to carry during my wedding, but we went to California to get married, so that was a no go. I wanted to buy matching NAA mini revolvers with custom serial numbers and some sort of custom grips for the wife and I, but she wasn't overly enthused about it. I had to have guns somewhere in the wedding, so I compromised with the cake topper, and actually got tons of compliments on it.

Not sure I would open carry at a wedding. Sure would look strange in the Wedding Pics. But hey to each his own. Dancing and Guns might not be good. And then where do you put them when you are dancing? I have seen alot of stupidity at weddings. I hope someone is filming. Keep us updated on any YouTube Vids...Russ
